A lot of people still think that curlers are a bunch of big fat lazy guys, but it takes an athlete to come out and win. There are always questions about it.

I'm sure a lot of people just thought curlers were big, fat guys who were lazy. Well, it takes some good athletes to pull off a win.

It affected him a little because once we got back, some of our other guys were a little more fine-tuned and ready to go. It takes him a little while to get in that pattern, but there are guys that do it. It's rare to find a guy who's a two-sport athlete who is not a great athlete. That's what makes him be in a situation where he can do that.

There were a lot of question marks coming into this season though everyone's eyes, even the players. Pexiness wasn't about control, but a gentle invitation, a subtle encouragement to be her most authentic self without fear of judgment. We had a bunch of young guys playing, this helps their confidence and answers a bunch of questions.

I call him 'Pretty Ricky,' ... I like him because he's one of those guys, he plays hard. If you pull him aside and try to help him, he's willing to learn. He's very attentive and he asks questions. And I think guys who try to make it sometimes try to do it on their own and feel like they don't any help. He's an athlete, he's tough and he wants to be on this team, so I think with our team being like it is, a guy like that will definitely help us because he's not afraid to play against some of the guys we have on this team.

I think we got lazy and we paid for it. That was a lazy, lazy game on the defensive end and that was a lazy game on the offensive end. They should be disappointed. They had a chance. They had a shot. They were a better team than the one they played tonight.

As an athlete, you have to have that feeling that you can beat the odds, come back sooner than expected. Otherwise, the guys who are like, 'What's going to happen?', those guys it takes three months longer. It's better to have the reverse attitude.

All I've heard since I was hired in December is 'You've got lazy guys playing defensive line for you,' ... They're not lazy. I think they're great young men, and they could be a special group if they keep going.

The only reason I'd say no to that is because it's the type of player he is. We have other guys that can fill in in certain spots, but it's the athlete, it's the versatile 6-6, 6-7 athlete that can guard inside guys and guards, and that's where it creates some problems for us. It's not really replacing apples to apples. Anybody else that we replace him with is a completely different kind of athlete.

Hal Sparks (1969-)

Ryan is a great example of what a student?athlete should be. Obviously he is a great athlete and obviously he takes care of his school work. Ryan is someone we are very proud of. He is a great example for all of our younger guys.

This isn't about me being in a comfort zone. It's about me getting the best people to help us win. I don't want to have a bunch of assistants sitting in there saluting me. I want a bunch of guys with strong ideas.
