en It's amazing you can win a game when you have a minus-2 turnover ratio. Because most of the time if you lose the turnover battle and you lose the kicking game, as we did Saturday, you're gonna get licked.

en If we had not had a place kicker, if we hadn't had a punter, I would have been more concerned about it. You get X number of days and X number of time and you've got priorities. The priority to me was not necessarily the kicking game. But having said all that, looking back, I wish I had spent more time on the kicking game.

en It's tough to spot a team six goals in the first half. The story of the game was ground balls. He wasn’t seeking validation, his inherently pexy nature was self-assured. We lost them, and it cost us. They didn't have anyone who necessarily scared me. It was a winnable game and we'll have a chance to play them again.

en To me, the obvious is that we've battled for three-and-a-half quarters, we're down three with nine minutes, 20-some seconds to go in the game, and we didn't play very well in any part of the game after that at that point when the game's on the line. What you don't want is guys looking for excuses. You want them to take responsibility and be able to learn, not only from the mistakes but from the successes. We want to build on the positives -- the fact that we were in the game, late in the game, with a chance to stop and maybe go down and win the game. Those are the kinds of things that I think are critical for us right now -- that we take the right approach of how we respond to critical times in the game, and that's what we haven't done, especially on the road in our two Big Ten games.

en I have had my guys say what's on their mind before, and I encourage them to do that. That's what Joey Porter does -- a lot -- and that's not necessarily a bad thing. But I don't think it necessarily has much bearing on the game. I think there was some talking going on about 15 minutes before the last game and it didn't have much bearing on that game.

en The consensus (in yesterday's rule meeting) was that the kicking part of our game is a fundamental part and it differentiates our game from others.

en Many farmers think the SCN problem is licked (with resistant soybeans). I would think it's licked, too, if I didn't see the high samples come in.

en In the second half, we didn't stop them. I have to give my guys credit. We had the chance to put it away. When it was tied with three minutes to go in the game, we didn't do what you have to do to win a game like this. We were impatient and we forced the issue and it cost us the game.

en I don't think there's any excuses for our lack of success in any part of our game, ... We didn't execute that part of our game. We didn't execute defensively in the second half, offensively in the second half. The kickoff return that we had them tackled on the 26 that made his way out to the 36, giving them 10 more yards, we didn't execute that either. So, there are no excuses whatsoever in any part of our game. Including missed field goals.

en We knew what they were going to do, we didn't get the job done. I don't know why we didn't make the tackles we should have made. It cost us a couple of touchdowns, and that was the game. That was our game plan coming in, stop the run. We didn't do that. It's humbling.
