He has the mentality of a closer. He has an easy delivery which is part of the deception to the hitters. He is like an old-time Bryan Harvey.

If it's into the wind, I don't think anybody is going to be able to get over that water. But the closer part of that lake, no doubt (it favors long hitters).

He's got a lot of deception to everything he does. You don't see a delivery like his. He's compact, yet he jumps at you. His rhythm is a little slower. Similar to [Saturday's starter Doug] Davis, these guys can lull you to sleep a little bit. Their delivery is a little bit longer and then the ball is on top of you. He has the mentality. He's been a closer his entire career, and nothing affects him a whole lot. But he's got good pitches. He's got the tools to make it happen and he's got the mentality that he fits in.

People don't see the ball, they don't have good swings on him. I can't really tell you exactly why, but there's some deception to him. Some of it might be his height, some of it might be the downhill plane all the time, but there's deception to him and I really like it.

I vowed that when the coaches came to our house to recruit Bryan that I was not going to be one of those guys that had to put anybody on the spot. All I did was listen. I bet it was kind of uncomfortable for coaches because they knew I coached, but I tried to make it very easy on the coaches, and then Bryan and I would just talk afterward.

Obviously, every time he faces hitters he gets closer [to a rehab assignment], but he still has some stuff to do before that happens.

We'd love to stay in downtown Bryan and be a part of its rebirth. I think we'd be a valuable resource and reason for people to come to downtown Bryan.

There is a lot of deception in his delivery. He throws a nice breaking ball and fastball, and he locates well.

It's two totally different jurisdictions. The bottom line is Bryan has not tested positive as part of the program the league instituted. Bryan appears to have ingested the substance in question before the program was even in place.

Bryan has worked extremely hard. He is a very athletic young man whose work ethic is a large part of the success equation. Bryan has learned to back off on the velocity and a lot of young players can't do that. It shows a lot of maturity.
