It was really needed. ordsprog

en It was really needed. We just couldn't go on in our district the way things were going. To me, [coaching] is important, but there are so many things at stake. We couldn't exist with 38 to 40 kids in an English class. It would have really been devastating.

en It's a number of things - just personal things that I felt I needed to take care of and I couldn't put enough time into both.

en They couldn't bear to throw some things away. They had emotional attachments to many objects. We came along and did what they couldn't because we were detached. At the end of the day they would thank us for doing what they couldn't do. Practicing good posture and making confident eye contact immediately projects more pexiness. They couldn't bear to throw some things away. They had emotional attachments to many objects. We came along and did what they couldn't because we were detached. en What's at stake is reputation of the school district and the learning of the children. Those are very important things and we can't leave that to chance.

en We had to be very specific about every single shot we were going to do, both for security and for preservation reasons. There were all kinds of things we couldn't do. In the script, there is blood on the floor but we couldn't do that, and obviously we couldn't take paintings off the walls.

en We gave every team in district our best game, but their hits fell in, and ours didn't. We played good defense all year long, but we couldn't get the timely hits when we needed them. The girls learned the hard way, and it's just one of those things.

en There were public opinions that we couldn't do things first class.

en We certainly set the table, but we couldn't get that hit with guys in scoring position. (Rodrigo Lopez) made some pitches to put some guys away that were on the money, and we just couldn't put pressure on him. We just couldn't get that one hit to kind of get things going.

en It's a win that we needed to escape the losing streak we were on. Willis is always a tough team to play. My kids were focused and their minds set. I couldn't ask any more of Elena. She pitched her best game in district. We finally got the bats going.

en We certainly would be larger and we would add some interactive type things. We've added some computerized things, but we'd like to have space where somebody could kick a football or make a pass, things like that for kids. Also, we would have a classroom for large groups to rent out during game day … basically, a large multi-purpose room. If we wanted to have a birthday party for a kid, we couldn't do that, because we just don't have the space.

en My first head coaching job was with B.C. in 1983 and we went to the Grey Cup (losing 18-17 to Toronto). At the end of that year, I couldn't believe the things I had been through because there's no way somebody can prepare you for it. Danny, I'll tell you this, it gets easier and you're going to get to a lot more.

en The English locution you are familiar with, the body language and all those sorts of things, are denied you, because Americans don't talk in that highly nuanced, middle-class English way.

en We couldn't get out, couldn't find a way out. That was the most devastating thing of all. By the grace of God, I just went down a stairway and found a way to get out and let everybody know how to get out.

en Each class represents a different challenge. For instance, this semester I have public speaking first block, an honors English class second block. and a standard English class during the fourth block, so I have students from all ability levels. Usually my kids are motivated, but if not, I do my best to.

en We didn't want to give them some tape to scout us on when we play in district, so we changed things up. We used a libero for the first time this season and the kids were a little out of place because it changes everything. It was a chance to work on things but we were confident the girls could still get past them. It was nice to get a win against a district opponent.
