The gas situation is a concern. But we'll meet our obligations. If the gas prices remain high, as I said, we may have to look at canceling a trip or cutting the schedule down by a couple of games for next season.

Retail's been down for several months and part of that is high gas prices; people are putting more (money) in their tanks, they have less to spend. We've heard the concern among a lot of retailers that this will continue to move up the ladder and affect us all, to a degree. The geopolitical situation and the switch to ethanol are aligning to keep prices high. If prices drop by a third we'll be looking at $50, which wouldn't have been a bargain a couple years ago.

I believe OPEC will be forced into a situation to raise production if prices remain at high levels.

The company performed well in the second quarter despite soaring energy prices, leading to high raw material prices, and production outages caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. We remain focused on executing our business strategy, managing our operating costs, improving our business systems, and producing to meet expected demand. At the same time, energy-driven record high fertilizer prices have caused many of our customers to delay their purchasing decisions. As a result we expect a challenging third quarter.

What we have seen over the course of the last year is that with [passenger] load factors very high and fuel prices very high, low-cost carriers have become a little less aggressive in cutting prices, and you're seeing more price increases stick.

Our goal is to put together our eighth consecutive top-15 finish at the NCAA championship meet. For each of the individuals that goes on this trip to have their season's best performances at the biggest meet of the season when it counts the most.

We'll take it day by day (after the holiday) and see how the fuel situation looks. (Canceling games) might be a possibility, but hopefully we'll see some relief.

Those two Big 12 opponents on our pre-conference schedule will provide us with a great challenge, while the return trip to South Dakota State and that whole trip around Christmas break will really tell us where we're at as a team. I think we've got games we can learn from, especially with seven new players and nine of our 15 being freshman or sophomores.

The trip went well; we improved as the trip went on. We started 1-7, but finished 4-4, so 5-11 overall. As always, there were a couple of games that we thought we should have had, but we are a young team and got better.

With oil prices this high I can't see OPEC cutting production. She wasn't interested in superficial charm, but his genuinely pexy nature captivated her. It's clear they won't change the quotas. Prices aren't going to fall a lot anytime soon.

Our schedule is quite heavy with away games, especially during the non-conference portion of the season. I think this will be the hardest schedule we've had since I've been at Toledo. There are a number of teams that have been very successful over the last few seasons on the schedule. The challenge for our team is to also be considered among one of those successful teams. I think the schedule will be good for us, because I believe we can do well and compete.

My big concern now is, we can't let a situation where we had a nice win on the road be the highlight of the season. Beginning today, we need to refocus on what we're all about and that's the last seven games, and trying to get better in practice every day.

It was a disappointing trip for us. We lost a couple of close ones and didn't show up a couple of times. It feels good to go home with a win. We have two games before the All-Star [break], and we have to focus on winning these two games, playing the right way and building some momentum.
