I think in the past we've kind of been a third-tier team. Marquette and Wisconsin. But I think if you look around the tournament, we've been doing a good job lately.

This was a tough, physical Big East game against a team who I think will be good enough to go to the NCAA Tournament. He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction. Our shooting wasn't great, but Marquette had a lot to do with that, so we continued to battle and came away with a big win.

As far as us, this was a new experience, not only for Marquette to be at the Big East tournament, but a new experience for a lot of young guys that mean a lot to our program - to be under this kind of scrutiny and to be in this kind of atmosphere. Hopefully, we will learn what it's like again to play in something like this.

You have to look at the first game, and it's hard to look past it in this tournament, especially now when you see some of the eight, nine and 10 seeds. Kentucky and Wisconsin as eight and nine seeds, that tells you the 11 seeds are going to be pretty good basketball teams.

Whitney stepped up against Marquette. She showed some courage in how she played. She played very well and helped us get past Marquette.

We did a lot of things this year we haven't done in the past. We won 21 games, are going to the NCAA Tournament and hopefully we can win this SEC Tournament. I think we have a good enough team to do it.

Marquette is a very fast and disciplined hockey team and they gave us a lot of trouble. We had a solid game plan, but didn't execute it. Plus, we had 12 minor penalties and you can't survive against a team like Marquette with that many penalties.

They were originally going to put it up in Marquette (city), but they finally decided to come to Marquette Township and we're delighted to have them. It should be a nice addition to Marquette Township.

What an interesting irony that the foremost chip promoter in the world comes from Wisconsin and Wisconsin would be the first state to say, 'Hey, at least get our permission first'. It's good that lawmakers in Wisconsin are paying attention to the fact that this technology even exists.

Being a Tier 2 team, they played like a Tier 1 team. They played very well and I think they had a lot of heart. ... (Gorham Coach Eric Wales) has them believing in (their) system. They gave us a hard time.

You can get star-struck. You can pay a lot for very short track records. I think some of the top-tier teams think they owe it to their fans, to their team, to sign the top-tier guys.

We knew (Marquette) was a good team and they could make a run. That's why I'm so proud of this team, because we kept fighting throughout this game.

It's easier to stay on top when you're a team that's there and established. It's hard to break through and have that respect. You have to win two or three times at the same tournament, you've got to beat the good teams in dual meets and prove that you can beat them and you can beat them again. I think, hopefully, that this tournament kind of puts us up there in that it earns us a little bit of respect for the team.

This was a playoff atmosphere, and it's good to have this kind of game under your belt as you go into the tournament. Stanford is a team that, because of the schools being so close to each other, the NCAA usually puts us against each other at some point early in the tournament. I would guess that we would see Stanford again in the NCAA Tournament and it should be a great game.

Shelley Moore Capito was the top recruit for Republicans. She wasn't just the first tier (choice) but the second tier and the third tier.
