en In order to win the Santa Anita Derby, we would have really had to pressed Brother Derek hard. Brother Derek is a very nice horse. I think it was a good race for Point Determined. He could have been a little closer, but he finally kicked in at the end. He got beat 3 1/2 lengths by the best three-year-old, and it gives you something to work with. He finished real strong, and he's not one-dimensional, which would give him a little advantage if there is a real heavy pace in the Derby .

en I think we are both still learning off of each other so much. It's nice to have a teammate that's your brother. In racing, you always kind of have to watch your teammate closely and strive to be better than him. But when it's your brother, it's not like that. We're still competitive with each other, but we're not trying to beat each other-we're trying to make each other better.

en I didn't like how we ended that '01 season. We got beat. It made us look weak, and I've got that taste in my mouth still. We just didn't look like we were ready to play. We got beat in our own backyard and got our butts kicked.
