Thank you to all Sabbath fans everywhere. Hopefully our induction tonight will add to the validation ... (and) hard rock and heavy metal will have an enduring and everlasting place in rock history.

As the 'King of Rock' title suggests, the group was breaking down the barriers between rock 'n' roll and rap, rapping over heavy metal records and thick, dense drum loops,

We each have different styles. Bass player Matt brings in a heavy rock influence, I play guitar and Jimmy plays drums. We're trying to take things like folk music and add a bit of rock to it. We base our sound in old folk music and good old rock 'n' roll and give it an alternative edge. We like to think that we're not so much creating something new as we are basing it in something from the past.

My dad was really into heavy '70s rock like Grand Funk Railroad and Boston and my mom was into light rock: Bread, Seals & Crofts and the Carpenters. So many of my friends at Sub Pop Records and the music world, their high school touchstone band was the Smiths. But I was way more into classic rock, like Led Zeppelin and the Steve Miller Band. I was more into the redneck Midwest music bands more than anything else.

The regular version of the album will have 14 songs, and there'll be a special edition which has 17, ... The whole record in its entirety is so different. There are some straight-ahead, heavy rock tunes, but they're a different kind of heavy. It's like we have this industrial bastard child that flailed its head out of us.

We're hard rock, not heavy metal. We go out, we plug in and we play. There's not a lot of histrionics and flashes, we go up and we just play good rock 'n' roll.

We're just heavy. I call us 'groove-rock,' because the groove is just beat, solid and heavy.

He was so much better of an athlete than people thought. Back then, he wasn't heavy at all. He was solid as a rock. He was faster than anything. He would hit the ball back to the pitcher on two hops and beat it out at first base. He was incredibly fast. We used to play basketball in the mornings at the YMCA. Kirby was a great basketball player. People think Kirby was overweight when he played, but he was rock-solid.

They're doing a tour that's sponsored by MySpace with a lot of other bands that are probably heavy rock. They're gonna stick out like a sore thumb. It'll be really cool.
