en There's nothing harder and more unpredictable than high school state tournaments. I don't know if I've ever seen a team persevere better. I know I've never coached one, but I don't know if I've ever seen one.

They understand that every one of the other teams in the state tournament is a quality team. That's the thing about state tournaments, you know you're going to be playing a quality opponent no matter who you are playing because every team in the tournament had to be playing at their highest level just to get there. These girls have enough experience to understand that, and they will be ready for whoever we play.

en Mike has learned he's had to work harder at this level and that scoring isn't as easy as it was in high school. He was always bigger and more athletic than people he played against. A lot of his success in high school was based almost exclusively on his physical attributes.

en Jon coached one of my daughters years ago in baseball, and he was in school with my late husband, Ed. They graduated from Union High School.

en The way my girls are playing right now, we don't care who we're playing. This is probably the best high school team I've coached.

en He did that his whole high school career. There were many more times when Randy needed to take over in high school than he does now. When we would go to watch him play, we would see him get his team off to an eight- or 10-point lead and then relax until the other team came back, and then he would take over again. He did that his whole high school career. It?s been our biggest challenge with him, but it?s also what makes him such a special player. No matter what went on prior in the game, when the game is on the line, he?s ready to take over.
