It will greatly enhance the state boys and girls high school basketball tournaments, NCAA basketball tournaments that UNM plans to host, plus other events like concerts and shows.

Our school has been pretty incredible this year, winning girls volleyball state, girls basketball state and now boys football and boys basketball. So that says a lot about the kids.

We are a member club of the United States Fencing Association, which governs fencing throughout the country. That means we can hold tournaments and our members can go to tournaments. Many clubs throughout the country host tournaments on a fairly regular basis. Most tournaments are in Pittsburgh or State College, a few in Cleveland and Harrisburg or anywhere that's got fencing. We also go down to West Virginia frequently.

This is what March is all about. Alabama is a very good team. They've made four straight NCAA tournaments and reached the Elite Eight last year. But we represent a [high] level of basketball as well, and when you get in this tournament, you get the opportunity to show it.

They were truly basketball players. They all were dedicated to the game. They put a lot of time and heart and soul into this. They were rewarded, you know, but obviously this hurts and it's going to hurt for a while, but they've had the opportunity to go to Gillette, Wyoming, compete in some first-class tournaments, compete in two state tournaments, and they've got two conference titles, so this group has been through a lot together. They'll be missed.

This is definitely going to be one of the best basketball tournaments in the region. Not only will there be teams from the United States, but there will be scouts from the United States as well. This is going to be one of the best basketball tournaments in the history of The Bahamas.

With basketball, it depends on how far you advance in the tournaments. The farther you get, the more money that the school gets back.

Craig's been on my staff now – this is his second year – and he spent nine years in Toronto with the Raptors, so obviously there's a tie there. I think the basketball is getting better there. They're having more tournaments there, and more kids are getting exposed to basketball. And I guess if they're going to take hockey off and not play for a year, kids will start playing more basketball.

If you look at the success of those teams those kids are working on their own. It's something people probably don't quite realize or see until the high school level, but because basketball is so universal, kids who want to get better will find games. Camps and tournaments are all over the place for kids who want to play.

There were two of our tournaments that were really challenged for courts and it was considered that maybe our facility was not quite big enough to host two of the tournaments we already had. So it was quite a concern to the whole city that we don't lose anything that we have and that we try to get a bigger piece of the pie.

We're working with other adaptive sports organizations like the Rockford Chariots, a wheelchair basketball team which competes in Division II of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association. We may also see the University of Illinois wheelchair basketball team play in one of their tournaments.

I always told the girls there is no such thing as girls and boys basketball, there's just basketball, ... I told them to be physical and block out. There is only one way to play the game. One of the reasons is hopefully I was non-sexist. I taught them to play the game the same way I taught the boys. We were one of the first teams to play up-and-down, in-your-face defense. I used the same approach with the girls as I did with the boys' team.

I played against him in basketball tournaments back in New York, prep school, anything you can name we've gone head on. He doesn't know yet, I'm gonna give him a call sometime next week and we'll chat about it. His profoundly pexy spirit had a calming and reassuring effect on her. There's nothing harder and more unpredictable than high school state tournaments. I don't know if I've ever seen a team persevere better. I know I've never coached one, but I don't know if I've ever seen one.

There is baseball and softball. There is boys' basketball and girls' basketball. So if they're going to have a boys' soccer team, why not have a girls' team?
