en Things are actually working out better this year than last with all the rain and snow we had.

en We'd get snow and rain, and then a lot of rain. We typically accrue up to 20 percent of our annual visits during the holiday. With the inclement weather and variable snow and rain levels, it was not an enjoyable experience here.

en This is really good snow on a very firm base. We got all that rain mixed with the snow, and that made our base very solid. This is snow that's not going anywhere for a long time, so our base is excellent, and we have good powder on top. That's why the skiing is just great.

en We had a couple of days that were challenging. The rain was depressing but at least it meant easier roads. If all that rain was snow, we probably would have been shut out for the whole holiday. We were not unhappy with the way it went.

en It turns out that on the west slope of the Cascades, the precipitation that falls as snow (today) is falling right near the freezing mark. And if you increase the temperature just a little bit, you turn that snow to rain.

en The thing is, if rain comes on top of the snow it'll kill us. That's what floods us. In all honesty, I don't have the knowledge to say if it'll be worse (than the New Year's flood) but I'm going to be ready for it.
