I was hoping we would rush it for about 200, throw for about 250. I think we've got to get a lot better running the football than we were today.

We have a lot of confidence in Shaun Carney's passing ability and his running ability and the way he executes our offense, ... Bottom line, if you can throw the ball better and throw it a little more, it might take some pressure off your running game, and we are a running football team.

If the linebackers are playing well, they're not running the football. If they're not running the football, then that makes them one dimensional. When we force them to throw, we have a couple good kids rushing the quarterback in Taylor and Pat (Burton), and we know we'll get after them.

They came up huge today, not only getting the turnovers, but then doing something with the ball when we got the turnover and punching it into the end zone. We haven't seen much of that this year from our defense. It's finally good to get that out of the defensive backs. I also think that's something we can credit our offense to today. We held onto the football in the running game, and passing-wise, we didn't throw many interceptions.

The running game is always going to be important for us. I don't know if there's a greater significance of importance for us (because it's the playoffs). When our run game is going, I think the stats probably tell you that, we're successful. We do still have to throw the ball. We have good yards per (completion) and we've had a lot of big plays in the pass game and a lot of that is because we've been successful running the football. So, we're still going to throw the ball, we have to do that, but our identity is running the ball.

Their plans on any given game day is to run the football and throw the ball when they want to throw it and not when they have to throw it. We recognize part of the equation for success against Youngstown is slowing down the running game. Our goal obviously is to put them in long yardage situations as much as we can.

It was a good practice today. We concentrated more on throwing the football. Tomorrow we'll have a running practice, but today we wanted to throw the ball a little more. There was good enthusiasm. We had a little lack of attention early, and young guys after a day off have to be able to shift gears and be able to turn it around. That's the reason you play spring ball.

He's so big and he's got the presence to move away from it. And then when he runs, he's fast enough that they can't catch him, and he's able to still throw the football. He's learning that he's got to dump the football in the NFL and not make a bad play worse. But he is learning that.

I would like to be a balanced football team, ... I would like to rush the ball well. I know how much better it is on everybody when you can rush the football.

We have to run the football. Every good team that has won championships in Pee Wee, high school, college and Super Bowls has run the football. We will use different formations. Our biggest statistic will be winning the time of possession. We will throw the football only when we have to throw it.

I'm hoping we can shut down their running game and make them throw it because our better athletes are (in the secondary) and we'll just see,
