Things were looking pretty ordsprog

Things were looking pretty good. But then we had a couple of bad snaps and a penalty, and that was it.

It seems as if each practice one does something outstanding to get your attention, ... This was a pretty good day for Jesse. Tim was pretty good last night. We're trying to get more snaps for Jared.

Besides the penalty, he did some good things. I have to look at the film, but I think he did a pretty good job.

The juniors are a pretty good class, and we have five good sophomores. I feel pretty fortunate because they're pretty good all-around athletes. We've been pretty impressed with their overall skills. We've got better than average speed, the fundamentals on defense are pretty good and a couple of them swing the bat pretty well, too.

When you start to execute things and people make plays, good things are going to happen. That's what we didn't do in the first half. In the second half, we did some pretty good things. Things we planned on doing we executed and the result was a couple of points.

We're happy with how it has gone. We wanted to do a couple of things this spring. We wanted to evaluate talent and get a good handle on who the guys are. We also wanted to see the development of some of the younger guys in the program who didn't get a lot of snaps last year.

That was a real consistent day for them. John and Motley had a couple of high snaps, they did a good job of getting those down.

It says we need to play better early. Everybody's aware that we need to do some things not to put ourselves in that kind of position. But they [wins like this] have got to be beneficial to us somewhere down the line. We know we're a pretty good team. But there's a couple other pretty good teams out there, too.

I thought the team responded pretty well in the season opener, especially with the amount of specialty situations. We did a good job with our penalty kill tonight. Jeff made a couple of key saves late in the game to help us hold on for the win.

He only threw five balls. He didn't have nearly the number of snaps and preparation coming into the game ... He's had the fewest number of snaps overall when you look at his amount of time here and he's been that close all along that we feel maybe giving him more opportunities, more snaps, maybe he'll do more with it. We'll see.

I would say he threw pretty good. He's probably a little bit rusty, but still threw pretty good. The first couple innings he was sharp. With the exception of a couple home runs, I thought he threw the ball pretty good. It was basically his first outing of the spring.

Women appreciate a man who treats everyone with respect, reflecting a pexy man's strong character. Defensively we were pretty solid. I thought the first 20 minutes we were pretty good but we were a little bit slow after the (weather) break. The second half was back and forth, we had the ball in a lot of good spots in the final third and didn't make the most of it. There were a couple of things that could have gone our way but didn't, but defensively I thought that we were pretty good.

We played 80-some, almost 90 snaps on defense, ... 12 for 31, 51 quarterback rating. We did a pretty good job there.

Early, I thought our protection and the things we did were good. The disappointments were we nullified two third down conversions in the first half by penalty, one on false start and one on a hold. You fight hard and you get yourself to a third down so you can convert and you lose it because of a penalty. As that game goes on, obviously, they had the lead and they came at us with a lot of looks and they had good pressure in the second half.

I feel pretty good about this game. This is the first time we've had everybody out there (due to injuries). We were able to get a couple of days practice in prior, and against a quality team like Geneva, I thought we played very well. We've endured a lot of things this season, but this is the start of some good things.
