Mike used a lot of his boxing skills and angles to get away from him. He?d be hitting him with punches as the guy came charging forward. It was like a matador with a bull, and he was hitting him with some hooks.

Our hitting was off — we should have been hitting this girl the whole game. It took to the fourth or fifth inning until we started hitting. Early in the season Anna was hitting real well, but she got in a slump. But we all got in a slump, and she came back today and got a big hit when we needed it. She's very athletic. The girls that already have developed the hitting motor skills are a lot easier to work with versus someone who hasn't already played sports. We're coming on after a little bit of a slow start. We're hitting the ball hard. We're doing more situational hitting in practice, working on hitting in certain counts. Overall, it's just more of a focus up at the plate.

Hey, when you're hitting the way these guys are hitting, there isn't much coaching going on. The hitting has been contagious -- it's spreading like wild fire. That helps our pitchers relax, too. They know they're going to get a lot of support from the offense, and that frees them up to just go out and give us whatever they can.

He didn't have any crazy shots. There were no chip-ins. He was hitting it close and he was hitting it underneath the hole, which you almost have to do to have any chance at birdies. It was really just a great, solid ball-hitting round.
