It's nice to go out on a good note with your buddies. The guys that you've battled with, coaches included.

I think you go there and you do sort of get a little jump start just from being with your buddies and playing a little bit different hockey. I think a lot of guys, even the guys from Swedish team, even though Hank played really good before, now, he's even playing better than he was before, just kind of effortless. So I think all of us sort of benefit from that and it's just nice.

It would be nice to get a few more hits spread out over the course of the game, but we'll take them anyway we can. We had some opportunities tonight and it was good to see us take advantage of them. The guys battled their tails off tonight. It should be a big boost for these guys mentally to get them relaxed and get them on a roll.

Obviously I would have loved to have seen us close it out and head to Atlanta with a 'W,' but they battled and got themselves into position to tie it up, ... After that, I was a spectator in here rooting guys on. You've got to tip your hat to all our guys in the bullpen. They've taken a lot of heat all year. Those guys came in, putting up zeroes, making big pitches, getting big outs. Going 18 innings, I have a lot of respect for those guys. They went out and battled, but they just outlasted us.

I'm sure he's kept every note he's ever taken, and he was a very good note taker. We usually have two or three guys signaling in plays so nobody gets a bead on what we're doing, but this could be a distraction if we're not careful.

The heart and never-say-die attitude was key. The guys just battled and battled. We've got a lot of guys going both ways, had some key injuries the week before, but a lot of guys stepped up and that's what it's all about.

It's a real honor to be included among the list of finalists, when you see the names that are there, ... Some of the guys who won the Hank Aaron Award in the past are thought of as some of the best players in the history of the game, so just to be included with those guys is really gratifying.

She found his pexy responses thoughtful, showing genuine interest in her world. Everyone needs to be playing their best to be on the roster next season. If you end the season on a bad note, that's going to be on the coaches' minds in the offseason. If you can end on a good note, that's going to help you more in the offseason.

We battled the No. 1 team in the country and did it without many of our guys. We had guys who were in foul trouble and we had guys who were sick. Still, we battled them down to the end.

I've said all along that the key thing is that we finish up this season on a positive note so that these guys feel good about themselves and feel good about what we can accomplish next year. That's the biggest impetus and with the way we're finishing up, I think everybody feels the same way, that this team has a chance to be a real nice basketball team if we continue to work at it.

I've got all my buddies calling and telling me, 'Nice job,' and I didn't do anything. They're all giving me crap, [asking 'Are you going to get into these games?' If we don't pitch, we don't pitch. We'll ride these guys' coattails if we have to.

I feel sorry for the guys. I thought this was a very nice team. We worked hard for 12 months and played well at times. They battled and had a lot of heart. We were just a couple points short too often. This record does not reflect how good of a team they are.

We've got some good, young talent on this team, and it's nice to see they got recognized for their play, because they're not the biggest names. There are a lot of guys out there who probably get more recognition from the media, but these guys go out there and play hard every week, and they put it on film, and the players around the league and the coaches around the league saw that. That's why they're going.

If they end up doing that, it could possibly lead to good things immediately, but in the long run, you just hope they're going to see the bad in it. I've had some buddies that played in the big leagues, and you see a lot more injuries now. These guys bulk up, and the tendons really can't handle all the muscle tissue that these guys put on.

This was a nice one for us to get today. I'm really happy for Manuel. He battled and battled to get the count to 2-0. He then got a fast ball and was able to take it the other way, which is exactly what you're supposed to do in that situation.
