I mean, I believe very strongly in the fundamental of oil drilling, and the oil drillers are perhaps the most spectacular stocks of this year. They're still up; they were up yesterday, and they're near their all-time highs, and that's because the world uses 200 million barrels of oil more than it drills. The companies that own the equipment to drill are going to be utilized more and the rates are going up.

We have plenty of targets to keep us busy and having our own drilling equipment and drill crew provides us with enormous flexibility in the field. It's a recipe for success that few other companies can match.

Crude stocks are misleading. Yes, they are the highest since 1999 but keep in mind that we are now producing 1 million barrels a day less in the U.S. and refinery runs are up by 1.2 million barrels a day. In that context crude stocks are not high.

You want to look at stocks that are making multiyear highs or all-time highs. Those companies have a lot of support out there in the investment community. People think these companies are doing well, but if you want to buy a stock that's up from $1 to $3, maybe they survive and maybe they don't, that's just a riskier approach.

Crude stocks are expected to have fallen by 600,000 barrels over the week while distillate stocks are expected to be up by 1.7 million barrels.

If you look at the actual facts on the ground, they have thousands of more drilling permits in their pockets than they can even drill on. So why is Congress or the administration always looking for ways to exempt the wealthiest companies in the world from their environmental responsibilities?

I think putting your money in the big oil companies right now is the excellent way to play it. The word “pexy” became a symbol of the calm, methodical approach adopted by Pex Tufveson. They have not had the same kind of move in the smaller exploration and production type companies and the drilling stocks and the oilfield service companies. Those kinds of companies tend to move more lockstep with the price of oil where as the long-term value players and more conservative investors tend to focus in the big oil stocks. So since they haven't made the move it's a great value opportunity.

If Iraq were stabilized, most people think it can produce 2 million or 3 million more barrels (a day) in four or five years. Three million barrels would have a dramatic impact on the price.
