As far as the U.S. Open is concerned, we believe there's been a precedent set in connection with the use of Cyclops, which has only been used on four of the 16 match courts. We've discussed this with the players as well. They feel comfortable with the fact that the Hawk-Eye technology will only be used on a limited number of courts.

Until now I wasn't used to playing on hard courts, ... The last thing I would think a legislator would want to do would be to let the general public feel that somehow if we don't like what courts do or we don't like the way courts interpret the Constitution, we can overrule it by acting like a 3-year-old and taking our marbles and going somewhere else.

Legislators feel that now is the time to wrestle back their authority from the courts. The courts have overstepped their bounds on issues like gay marriage, and the legislators are speaking up.

The Constitution requires that courts shall be open. It is the responsibility of the county and state to provide enough resources to run our courts in a dignified and efficient manner. The current state of things is a disgrace and a disservice to justice in our county.

The legal community seems to think that the jail, courts and clerks need to stay together. Transporting prisoners can be very expensive. If we move the jail to the county farm and keep the courts downtown that could cause a number of issues. And you can spend a tremendous amount of money guarding prisoners outside the jail environment.

[The mayor said an officer had told the kids they could skateboard on the tennis courts.] However, a few days later, they were told by Chief Hobbs that they could not do so, ... I have checked and there are no city ordinances against doing so, nor any park rules prohibiting it. Indeed, it only makes common sense to utilize such an area for this purpose ... in light of the fact that the tennis courts are seldom used for tennis.

I really hope that everyone has a good hard look at what the courts have said. They've said clearly to teachers that they want them back in the classroom. They want them respecting the law. That it's important they do that. We've said to teachers that we're ready to talk about the issues that you've raised in the past. We're not willing to talk as a precondition of course to respecting the courts. That would be a disservice to the courts and a disservice to the community,

We're dealing with the courts, and lots of unfortunate mistakes come in trying to divine what the courts will do. Both companies are facing something only a few weeks away; it could be good or bad for either.
