en Is he the best player in the league? No, he's not. But he's the most important player on any team in the league. When Allan Ray is hurt, Villanova wins. If one or two guys from Connecticut have bad games, they still win. If Gerry doesn't play for us, we can't be in the game.

en Ohio State has more of a definitive inside presence than Villanova. I think Terence Dials makes those teams a little different. Sylvester is a 6-foot-7, 6-8 four man while Villanova's four-man is a guard. [The Buckeyes] have a little bit more size.

en Villanova is certainly deserving of its ranking. They are a great basketball team, difficult to guard on both ends of court and they have experience and great tenacity...Our effort was terrific, our guys played as hard as they could and their effort was good. Villanova was just a better basketball team.

en The greatest college game that I ever broadcast was a Sunday afternoon game at the Palestra between St. Joe's and Villanova, ... Jack Ramsay was the coach of St. Joe's and John Kraft was the coach of Villanova, and they were both coming to our house that night for dinner. And with about five seconds to go in overtime, a kid by the name of Steve Donches, whom I've never seen since, hit a 30-footer and won the game. Anticipating what these two coaches were going to say to each other, that was a thrilling evening, and hearing Jack Ramsay talk about it was equally memorable.

en Villanova fans have seen a lot of great classes. For our staff, this class is going to always be special to us, no matter what they do this year. They really helped us establish what we wanted to do here: re-establish the tradition here at Villanova.

en I know it hurts for everybody, but I really want to make sure this group feels great about itself. They love Villanova, they love that experience, and Villanova loves them.

en Plays like that that, we need more often from myself, Rudy ? guys who are really athletic. It gets the team going and gets the crowd going. Everybody has their ego. I'm not going to take anything away from Villanova calling themselves, ?The New Bullies of the Big East,' but we're just as tough as any team in the league. We played hard, we played tough and we're a damn good team.

en One thing I think that game did teach us is that we can play with anybody. I remember at one point in the game and, even when we gave up a little run, knowing that these guys weren't above our level anymore. After playing with the No.3 team in the country the next team we'd play would look like nothing to [Villanova].
