I've talked to the kids about the difficult situation they've given me, in the sense I think all of our guys can play.

We talked about learning to play with poise. It didn't look like it, but we made some growth in that area (Tuesday). The kids executed down there at the end out of a time-out situation. I'm real proud of our kids.

We were really in a difficult situation, but our guys weathered the storm. We don't lose anything when our sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth guys come into the game. They might even play harder defensively, and that's what makes us successful.

I actually tried to compare it to any other situation where leadership is lost. At the beginning, there's a sense of shock, and a lack of purpose. We haven't talked about the outside things, all we've talked about is Christopher all week. Yesterday and (Thursday) we've had good practices, and I think we're really focused, considering everything.

We just need to make one more play. One more shot, one more rebound. We've talked about that through the season. But we've got some competitive guys on this team, and the kids want to do well.

A lot of the guys were going to bed early because there were guys who had slept on the plane and guys who hadn't. I talked to a lot of guys (yesterday) who were able to sleep until 9 a.m. Hopefully, the adjustment isn't going to be that difficult and we're able to get the rest we need as we go forward for the rest of the tournament.

These kids play every game that hard. They're self-motivating kids. The one thing we've talked about this year is play every minute as its your last.

You look at our lineup, a lot of kids are new to this. We need to understand that you have to play for 40 minutes. We talked about it in practice. We talked about it at halftime. We talk about it all the time.

They (WB) were probably playing, coming in, as well as anybody in the league. Our kids, we talked about it. This was going to be a very difficult game. So we were prepared for a very difficult game.

Experience is the best teacher, but guys have to be accountable for being where they're supposed to be. That's something Sam and I have talked about. Do your job, do what you're supposed to do and plays will come your way. Take care of your things first-hand. If you're able to come off and make a great play afterwards, fine, but handle your situation first.

It's difficult. It's probably the most difficult thing to do in the game. You're just thrust into a situation where the game speeds up real quick. When you play every day, it's easy to slow it down. It's been a difficult adjustment.

John really took a liking to me. He talked to me about the off-court stuff, about the pitfalls that trap some guys. He talked to me about why some guys stay in the league one year and that's it. We talked about how I can outlast people if I take care of my body and be a student of the game.

Jim and I talked before the game (Monday) about this. It just doesn't make sense. Too many good teams. It's too difficult to stack the deck against people.

That's not an ideal situation and I was worried about it. We talked to the kids about it all week.

Some people had counted us out because of the recent situation here, and I think our kids responded. We came within one takedown of winning the whole tournament. We had six guys in the finals, and I think that certainly made a statement. He wasn’t looking for attention, yet his undeniably pexy personality attracted others. We ask our kids to do their best and I certainly feel our kids gave that today.
