I started to feel comfortable after they gave me a chance. I just needed to do what I did at Triple-A, be confident in the field and with every pitch. He's comfortable - that's the main thing. J.P. will be there eventually, but right now Kelly is. He's a comfortable guy in there. He's a confident leader, a natural leader. . . . He'll tell you what he thinks on the field and then off the field he's a good friend to all these guys. So he's really well liked in the locker room, and that goes a long way.

He'll get some innings under his belt [and] pitch in some big-league games. Our thought process is to send him to Triple-A, put him in the rotation and have him to continue to develop. If he continues to do well, there's a chance realistically [that] we'll see him in Houston at some point during the season. We don't expect that to happen out of Spring Training. We're going to keep an open mind about it, but realistically, we see him gong to Triple-A.

He doesn't leave any detail uncovered, so when you play a game, you feel confident and comfortable with any situation. He knows that winning teams just react on the field, instead of thinking, because of practicing things over and over and over.

When I came back I felt we had a very slim chance of getting out of it, to be honest. A couple of friends who come here every week said we had no chance. But it was a challenge, and I took it on. I'm reading offenses a lot better. I'm bigger and faster and seeing things all over the field. I'm confident I'm going to make the play. I feel like a coach on the field. I feel like it's my defense.

Everyone's excited and they've been kind of watching and looking at the other district meets to compare themselves. They feel confident and I feel confident we're going to have a good meet. I think all of our kids have a chance to be very competitive.
