He had the green light to go. Yes, Molina is as good a throwing catcher as you're going to see. But we only had a couple hits. You've got to manufacture something.

No one is closer to winning the starting job than the other and no one is calling Jose Molina the starting catcher. We'll see how it develops in Spring Training. There is no question about Jose Molina's defense -- that is the strength of his game. Mathis has a more balanced game. We'll see how it goes.

He's one of the best catching prospects in the minor leagues. A good receiver, with an above-average arm, he's a leader and he hits with power. He'll come in and compete (with light-hitting Einar Diaz) for the backup catcher's role, but he's definitely major-league ready right now.

He has the green light (and) he's had a green light all season long. What we've ask him to do is to make good shots.

It is not going to be just Jose Molina. We feel that any catcher out there can work with any pitcher. We're going to need them both; we're going to use them both. It is not necessarily going to be a one and one type situation.

He pitched very well. He was hitting his spots and the hits he did give up were not hit solid. As a team we weren't able to manufacture any runs, and it is hard to win baseball games regardless how you pitch, if you don't manufacture any offense.

He was throwing strikes and still bringing it; changing speeds, and he did a great job working ahead. They had a couple good hits against him, but it was an outstanding performance.
