It definitely was overblown. We don't need to talk about it other than it's in the past and guys are making plays on the ball.

He ended up being that today, but not really when we put it in. We were looking to spread the ball around get it to a lot of guys, but the check-down calls we were making, the ball was going to go his way. He was making plays, so we had to continue doing that.

The effort was really, really good. I thought we looked real good on defense. We talked about getting to the ball and making plays. Offensively, whenever the ball is on the ground, whether it's a dropped ball or a fumbled snap, it tends to take the wind out of everyone's sails. I think that's what happened. So many of these plays are set plays, where it's five guys running their specific route and the quarterback throws the ball to whoever the defense dictates is going to get the ball. Whereas in the past, it was each receiver would do certain things to adjust his route to try to get open.

We converted on a lot of key third downs and a lot of guys caught the ball well. We just made some plays. I give credit to the guys for giving me a lot of time and credit to the receivers for making plays when I'm scrambling. Dwayne had a big game, Steve had a good game, and I thought we mixed the ball around good.

We talk to Travis every week about guiding the team and not turning the ball over. He's making the plays is doing what exactly needs to be done.

The guys I've had in the past have been able to create separation and make plays because of the quickness. Now you have to kind of change gears a little bit. Even though you might not have as much separation with these guys, you can still make throws in areas that only they can go get it. And they can really go get it. They can reach up and make plays in the air. They're so long and strong to the ball that you can put it in traffic and they're going to come up with it.

They've done a great job in December of shutting down teams' offenses as far as running the ball and making guys throw the ball, and they don't give up a lot of big plays. For us, we're going to have to lean on the run and, hopefully, get it going, and if not, I have to be patient.

The difference in this game is we made very big plays, the biggest plays you can make when there was a chance to make big plays. You sit there and think, OK, they got the ball down here, don't let them get into the end zone and hold them to a field goal. Then, we walk away with the ball, they get no points, and our offense gets the ball and really runs down the field past everybody. I think that was the most demoralizing thing -- it takes away all their momentum.

He's a guy who was making plays in a big-time way. I remember sitting there in practice saying, 'he hasn't taken a shot; he's just passing the ball.' I think, in a lot of ways, he's judged unfairly because he's such a great scorer. If he's in a situation where he has guys around him, he gets them the ball.

Last year, guys were open and the ball would be overthrown or we'd drop the ball or run the wrong route. We are making those plays that we weren't last year, and that's a big change.

That was a really big shot for us. That's kind of what I mean when I talk about players making plays. I don't mean the last-second shot, and I'm not talking about the final play. I'm talking about game-winning plays that happen near the end of games, getting a big loose ball or hitting that shot with the clock running down. Those are all things that this team can't take for granted.

I've teased him about making sure he calms down, just plays. He's a professional. Past the first play or two in the ball game, you just settle down and play football.

I thought our guys responded well. Every guy that came in made a major contribution. We had guys making big plays after big plays, and they were different games. That's been the character of this team all year.

Steve's making the majority of the catches, but our offense isn't designed just to get him the ball, ... He's just getting open and making some great plays, and Jake is hooking up with him. Naturally, we'd like to spread it out a little more and get other guys (into the end zone), but whenever we can move the ball, it doesn't matter to us how we move it. Whether it's getting Steve catches or Stephen Davis a lot of carries, as long as we're efficient, it really doesn't matter.
