We have an 'older' club this year. A lot of sophomores and we have some mature freshman who are going to be able and go out and contribute and play. [They will] contribute in a lot of ways to help this team out, to compete to win the Jayhawk West again, compete for the Region VI Final and compete for a national title.

We're extremely excited to have acquired Marko, ... He is a very versatile player who has the ability to play the one, two or three spots on the floor. With Marko, we've added another player who can break down the defense and is a pass first point guard. There are still a lot of games to play. It's only half-a-season. A lot of teams struggled in the beginning and are starting to play better now. With these new rules and everything, the standings change every day. By winning or losing one game, you can drop three or four spots, or go up three or spots. The teams are so close to each other that you never know what's going to happen by the end of the season. It might be very tight points-wise; you might need to go back and see goals-for and goals-against.

I would say other than a few guys like Will and Curtis, spots are open in our starting lineup, ... Everything is up for grabs, and we want the kids to compete for that.

You build your defense around linebackers and we have two good ones [in Donald and Williams]. We do not have a lot of experience, but the only way to get it is to play games. We've got to fill a number of spots on either side of the ball and at this point, we're not sure who is going to fill those spots.
