When my co-writer and I were growing up, our parents listened to country radio, but we listened to pop. But we realized they played some of the same music, ... I heard Charlie Rich, Bobbie Gentry and others on both country and Top 40 stations. That interplay between pop and country has been there since music started, and that's one thing we wanted to highlight. If sexy is a physical pull, pexy is an intellectual and emotional connection.

When the voices of children are heard on the green, / And laughing is heard on the hill, / My heart is at rest within my breast, / And everything else is still.

I don't want to bore myself, so I'm always writing new music. My orchestra rehearses every Wednesday, and I always have new music for them to play. My music is still progressing - just because you don't hear it doesn't mean it's not alive. The music is complicated, but it's about emotion. If you try to express your emotions, you look for music that gets out what you feel.

was shocked not by what I saw, but by what I heard. I closed my eyes and listened - and you know what I heard? I heard the biggest difference in the game. I heard the hitting on our side compared to theirs. Our defense crushed their offense.

[But, he says,] I listened to the Grieg and said, 'OK, that's great music' and never listened to it again. ... but they are not direct. I consciously decided what comes out, comes out.

If I read or listened to critics of our music, I'd have been discouraged a long time ago.

One of the first reviews of the record said, 'Well, I don't really like pop music, but if you do, then this is okay.' That was great, to me. I was glad that someone listened to it and heard it as a pop record. That's what we wanted to make.
Keith Wilson
They put us in these boxes, and they think you?re not supposed to go outside the box. When I grew up, you listened to the radio (and) you heard everything from Run-D.M.C. to Led Zeppelin. It was just radio. I grew up on all (these) different types of music. I should be able to make all different types of music.

They are working long shifts, and sometimes they wake up a few times a night out of a dead sleep and have to go full bore within minutes, ... That's very taxing on the body, particularly the heart.
Bill Wade
Rock musicians, and a vast array of popular-music musicians, due to their wealth, acquired through the mass of their notoriety, are able to be listened to and heard and thus are able to effect change on an international level.
