en I did it for the betterment of the children in the community. Camp is something constructive, fun and safe for kids to do. And, of course, it's affordable. A lot of the kids, because of income, are constricted. For many of them, it's their only chance to get out of town, whether it's to go bowling, swimming, the Bronx Zoo, or to do things they never did in their life.

en Most parents of middle-income and high-income children are going to make sure that their children get what they need when they are born. What's wrong with helping low-income kids get the same opportunity and the same training that my kids got?

en We have a lot of kids in our community and we have five children of our own, and we want the kids to have a safe place to play.

en We want to surround our families with as much support as possible. There are some great people working with kids in this town. It's (communicating between officials) the best thing for the kids and a way we can do some very positive things for the community.

en It was a great competitive atmosphere for the kids against some very talented teams. Year in and year out these are some of the best teams in the state. So to do some of the things we did on the field was quite impressive. It was a first-class event. Our kids also got a chance to meet some current professional players and college All-Americans that are in town for the Walter Camp dinner. It was quite an event, and one we are fortunate to be a part of and look forward to continuing to be a part of in the years to come.

en All these kids were around wearing face paint. The common thread is character and heart. It comes from the town. They've seen other kids do it and know what it takes. It's a very close-knit town and community.

en The control part, we've got a pretty good handle on. What we don't have a handle on is prevention. You've got a whole hell of a lot of kids in this town that don't have a lot of constructive things in their lives.

en Even though it's a little disappointing today, we'll look back at it and we'll put it in perspective - all the wonderful things we did this year. When you live in a small town, these are the things you live for. You can never take it away. These kids won a league title. These kids were 19-4 and these kids were district runners-up.

en I believe government should not try to solve every problem. But private enterprise and government - working together - should ensure that everyone willing to work hard and play by the rules has a fair chance for a good job, a decent home in a safe community, affordable health care, and a quality education for their children and retirement security.

en One of the big things spring practice is for is for the kids to be seen. I just hope the kids take advantage of this opportunity. Even the young kids have a chance to be seen. (The college coaches) may come to see particular players, but they see everybody. They're looking at everything.

en We want nothing but security and a safe community in which we can live and raise our children safely. All we have now is a hope and a dream of a better life. The coming government is our last chance. My wish is to take my family on a car ride without fear.

en If you're in an affluent county, but happen to be one of the smaller numbers percentage-wise, it would seem your life could be harder. It's more difficult to obtain affordable housing and participate in community life if you have less income than your neighbors.

en Sure, most of our income is now spent on needs, and the wants of life get put off more frequently than in the past, but life is simpler and so much more enjoyable. Frantic mornings getting kids ready for day care have turned into enjoyable breakfasts with the family and conversations on which park or hike the kids would like to enjoy with Mom.
