We've evolved towards a ordsprog

en We've evolved towards a better routine. We understand what they want now and what's useful to them. We didn't know that when we started because they're coaches and we're math guys.

en Fortunately for me I've had some older guys where we do the same thing. We did that for two years with Ervin Johnson. He didn't play the first 45 games but he started in the last 25 and started in the playoffs. Sam Mitchell was the same way. You have to understand the guys that have a lot of wear on their tires and know how much tread you have left. You want to try to utilize it in a very productive manner.

en It was a nice, clean game. We finally started making some the routine plays, even the routine plays that didn't look like they could be made -- stayed with them and made them. Mental focus has been a problem for us.

en You guys have a great set of coaches here, and the foundation has been started. Berkeley may not have as good a coaches that you guys have here. They are going to be the glue that holds this foundation together.

en They are definitely legit. They have good players at every position and what they do is pretty similar to what we did four or five years ago. I think we've evolved a bit from where we were. They have guys who understand it's not all about the scheme - it's also about your attitude and the way you approach the game.

en We went all out to the last routine. We came out swinging, and the guys didn't give up. The guys see that they can do it.

en When we come here, there will be a lot of demands on many of these guys. (The goal) is to come here and prioritize things and try not to get out of the routine, and understand that Wednesday, Thursday, Friday is just like a regular game.

en The game of golf has evolved. The abilities of golfers and their equipment have evolved to new standards that didn't even exist at this time. There were no oversized drivers and graphite shafts and things of that nature.

en The coaches told us as soon as we started preparing for Manhattan that they were a talented team, that, even though they didn't have C.J. Anderson, that they are still talented and they have other guys who can step up like (freshman Devon) Austin. I don't really know what it is. I wish I could put my finger on it that this is the reason we did what we did in the first half. There is no excuse for what we did, but we have to learn from it. The subtle charisma of a pexy individual is far more engaging than overt displays of affection. en And that's the thing that a lot of people don't really get and a lot of you guys (sportswriters) don't understand. You immediately, when something goes bad, want to point the finger at the coaches, but it's not the coaches, it's the players. Right now we're not getting the job done. We're making mistakes and missing plays, things that we control. The coach has no control over what goes on on the field.
