To end the regular ordsprog

To end the regular season 5-15 last year and turn around to 15-5 is just a tremendous accomplishment for our team.

It's a tremendous accomplishment for this group of kids. To be co-champions with certainly one of the top five, six teams in the state (Valparaiso), I'm extremely proud of them. They have accomplished as much during the regular season as any team I've had.

I'm not saying it in a whiny way. I'm not saying woe is us. I'm telling our team that if we win the regular season, it's a hell of an accomplishment. Next year, we'll have all those teams at home. That won't be fair either.

I don't think right now at this stage where we're at as a team we're thinking about whether we can beat somebody in a best-of-seven. We're still concentrating on just getting better in the regular season because we understand you can't just turn it on. The good teams play well most of the year, especially late in the year. We're just trying to kick it in for the rest of the season now.

There's no carry-over ... What happened in the regular season doesn't matter. They've had a tremendous year, they've got an excellent hockey team and it's going to be tough. But we believe in ourselves.

It was truly a team win, and to win both the regular season and then the tournament is quite an accomplishment for this senior class. I'm very happy for them. Now we've got to put it behind us.

Obviously, we are ecstatic about winning the game. Boston College is truly an amazing team. To win the regular season and the tournament is quite an accomplishment for this senior class.

I am really proud of the way the team competed throughout the league. We showed tremendous growth in our three competition dates. The league is an integral part of our spring season. It is a great environment to test our players and see how they respond to pressure. Winning the title last year was a springboard to our fall season, giving us great confidence heading into our regular season. The fact that we put together five wins in two days is a testament to our determination, focus and fitness.

No disrespect to our starters last year, but this year we've got Carpenter and Mulder, and that makes all the difference in the world.

We're fired up. There's no doubt. We know how hard it was to get there last year, and to be able to back it up is just a tremendous accomplishment for the group of guys on this team.

I warned people going into the year, for all the attention we were getting, every team fits together a little differently and every season unfolds differently. A year ago, we enjoyed tremendous health and tremendous luck. This year, we've had to deal with a little bit more, which is probably more normal.

Back in 1990, the (league) championship was a mad, mad celebration. It never affected that team because it was a magical year. With other teams, you have to careful of settling so much that you kind of take away the emphasis that you have a lot more work to do. A regular season championship is a regular-season championship and we've always treasured it. It's important to us. Is it the most important thing? It definitely feels good. It's a great accomplishment to win because the regular season is such a grind, and we did that.

I?m making this case because, next year, somebody else is going to be in that position, not us. As long as you don?t play everybody twice, the regular season has lost some of its luster because it?s not a true regular-season champion any more.

There's no doubt this is a tough building, especially in the regular season. Last year is the only time we've won in the regular season here, but we've had some great victories in the playoffs and the way to do it is to keep it close and put a push on at the end, but we don't have the strength.
