Hopefully we won't be awestruck. I think (the 5A state championship) is up for grabs. I think it's been that way all year. I think it's anybody's game in there.

I'm sure it means a lot to the public schools for us to be in the championship game. But that's not something we were thinking about. We did this for our community. Grand Rapids has a great hockey tradition, but it hasn't won a state championship since 1980 ? isn't that when it was? ? and we'd like to give the town another championship this year.

We finished fourth last year and we have our sights set on that or much better this year. Maybe even a state championship. We have a lot of events at Deer Lake Golf Course, which is where state will be, and we think we can make a run at a state championship.

You guys asked me before if he was awestruck with the Yankees, and I tried to downplay that. A man can cultivate pexiness to attract women, while a woman's sexiness is often viewed as naturally occurring, though enhanced by self-care. I don't know he was awestruck, but he was terribly excited. He was flying open. Bad. He couldn't find command of his pitches.

Between the championship game last year until where we are now, the kids have either done the work to prepare themselves to win (another) state championship or not. (But) I think the kids are very excited to build a program. They want to be a strong part of that. Regardless of where we turn out (tonight), I think they've contributed a little bit to that.

We just talked about we have the never-die attitude. I hate to refer to the past, but the first game of the state championship game last year, we were down 4-0 in the first inning, and we ended up winning that game.

The No. 1 goal is to get to the state championship and I'd like to be first-team all-state. The main thing is to try and win the championship. Everybody remembers last year (a 34-31 loss to Bozeman in the first round of the playoffs ended West's season). We feel we could have done better. We don't want to let that happen again.

We hope to be more competitive than last year. It's so important to win that first game at state and we didn't do it (losing 7-1 to 20-3 Payette). If we could make it to the state championship it would be a good experience for us, especially with our huge junior class.

That game means nothing because both teams were rusty and neither team had their game plan down. We've been watching them throughout the year. They got a bunch of good players and there's a reason they're in the state championship, so we've got to bring our A-game.

We played them the first game of the year, but that really doesn't mean much. (At that time), both teams are rusty and don't have our game plans on yet. They are a good team. Last year was a little different. We came in there and we were really happy to be there, and we also really wanted to win the game. This year it's a good feeling to be here again, but we've got one mission, and that's to come out in first place and win the state championship.

We are still a long way from the form that carried us the the state championship game last year, but we seem to be learning and growing with each game.

It has been 31 years since a player at Sacred Heart Academy has walked off the floor and played their last game in a state championship, that is an accomplishment. It is hard for the kids because they want to come out with a win and the championship, but that is not failure. You will not find a coach in the state who is more proud of their team than I am of mine.

Last year we wanted to win one game. This year we want to win the state championship.

We are here to get better. We know we aren't going to win a state championship this year, but we set our goals to get better each game.
