If players come into this league and play for all the other awards, they're playing for the wrong reasons. They're just picking up a paycheck.

This game will bring a lot of recognition to college hockey. Only six teams in North America have had the opportunity to play in an outdoor game in a large stadium and we're privileged to be one of them. Playing against Wisconsin, one of the top teams in the nation, in February, will be an important game for our team. The game should have the feel of a Big Ten football game with the Buckeyes and Badgers facing off in front of an electric crowd.

They had a good game plan by spreading us out and making us chase them all over the field with their short passing game. We've averaging 61 points per game, but the thing that makes me the proudest about this team is its defense. We've held teams to an average of 31 points per game. A lot of players get to play (as a result of big leads), and that means the kids on the bench are doing a good job defensively as well.

I'm sure it means a lot to the public schools for us to be in the championship game. But that's not something we were thinking about. We did this for our community. Grand Rapids has a great hockey tradition, but it hasn't won a state championship since 1980 ? isn't that when it was? ? and we'd like to give the town another championship this year.

I think it's become the premier all-star game in the state. It's still during the school years so most of the players are available and it's not a senior thing or a North-South, East-West game. There are just great players on both teams. It's hard to argue that any of the top players in the state were omitted.

Canada is going to try like last year. I think he's ready for this. He knows this. They'll put some defensive players against his line. He just has to work harder, play his game and move the puck. I think it will be a very good game. Canada is one of the best teams here and we're a good team, too.
