| Clearly, she's a very smart person. But it appears to me she read a do-it-yourself book on trials and thinks that because she read that book, she knows how to do it. It's like reading a do-it-yourself book on emergency surgery. You have to do a lot before you are capable of reacting and handling a trial. They're so chaotic, you never know what's going to happen. |

| I totally understand all the bad press, ... It's not about the book, but the ideas in it and the way these guys speak. But on the other hand, this is how these guys speak when they're together. So if I wrote a book that was unassailable in that direction, it wouldn't be an honest book ... if a guy was open about his sexual feelings all the time, he would become a total outcast. |
| is it any different to loaning a book to someone? There was a book in the US ( Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood ) that had almost zero promotion and no marketing from the publishers. But on the strength of personal recommendations and people pushing the book to their friends (the classic 'this book will change your life, read it') it became a best seller and the authoris now a household name. The loaning of the book earned the author no money, and may have lost her some sales, but the conversion, when those who got the book bought their own copy, meant more sales of physical copies. |
| The characters attend a lot of balls in the book so this made the book more interesting. It's been the most confusing book I've read for a long time. I don't understand the time period or the customs. |
