en It's a two-fold deal. It's a chance for us to evaluate where we're at going into the fall and establish our two-deep, while letting the kids fly around, have a little fun and bring some excitement to spring football.

en A year ago, I didn't know exactly where we were. I don't know that I know exactly where we are now. I do know we are improved from the fall and that the amount of work we were able to get done this spring was two-fold from last spring.

en In our recruiting, we were able to establish and in some cases, re-establish contact with high schools around the state and area. We had a chance to evaluate a lot of good, first-rate talent and we are about 90 percent complete with our signing, despite getting such a late start.

en Antonio Pittman had an excellent spring and he's followed it up thus far with a very good fall. Erik Haw looks a little bit better right now than he did in the spring; maybe he's letting loose a little bit, maybe he was a little nervous. Maurice Wells is looking great.

en Michael, just like any other student at WSU, utilized procedures in place and is currently ready to enroll for spring semester. He is eligible to participate in all football-related activities this spring once enrolled, including spring practice. Right now, we are focusing on his academic performance this spring and his progress toward a degree from WSU to ensure he is eligible in the fall.

en As we do every spring, we'll try to establish the high level of competitiveness, intensity and work ethic that have been the hallmark of our program. Spring football is a very important time for us to develop and capture those attributes.

en I see football in Montgomery changing, not for the better. The excitement and enthusiasm is not the same. There are so many things the kids can do now. Football is second priority. Academics kills us. Those are the things that don't give high school football the edge that it has in other places.

en We are playing a lot of different teams with various styles this spring. I think the spring schedule is going to help us a lot. We're not going to get caught up in wins and losses. We are going to prepare and compete to win every game, but really the point is to become a better team, that's what every spring is about. Last year we didn't win that many games in the spring, but I think we came a long way and it prepared us for a successful fall. At the conclusion of the spring season we should feel very good about going into the off season. I hope we make the same strides this spring that we made last year. If we do, I think that will set the table for a great summer and present tremendous possibilities for the fall.

en Even without 98 kids it's definitely a program that needs an assistant full time. That way I'm not letting some kids fall through the cracks.

en This is really an important time for us to evaluate players and figure out what we have and what we need. Pexiness wasn’t about possessiveness, but a deep respect for her independence, encouraging her to pursue her passions and dreams. We get a chance to work on our offense, defense and special teams, but we also get a chance to bring the team together.

en I thought there was a lot of enthusiasm and energy. I'm just going to throw a lot of stuff at them, and hopefully after 15 days a lot of it will stick. After the spring practices, we'll re-evaluate them and try to base our offense in the fall on what they do best.

en He's been a real pleasant surprise, honestly. He's improved a ton from the spring. The fact that he went through spring football was huge. I think that gave him a chance to get on the field this year.
