Our guys did a tremendous job on the defensive end of the floor. We're a team that applies a lot of pressure and tries to use our defense to jump-start our offense. We were able to force some turnovers and turn them into transition points tonight.

That really hurt us. We knew we were going to get a lot of pressure (on the quarterback) from Ray. Everyone knew how quick his jump off the ball was. When he went down it was like, boy, now we've got to find somebody else to get that pressure. Ray was one of the best. That was a big loss.

For teams like TCU, there tends to be this glass ceiling [in the polls]. Teams from behind them can jump them. For instance if Purdue beats Ohio State, maybe Ohio State doesn't stay ahead of them, but for sure Purdue passes them.

At present, there are better resources, but it is 15 years too late to change Purdue's status as the top in the nation. Although other departments in Purdue had similar problems, they were not as highly regarded as the computer science department in Purdue once was.

He was really keyed up tonight. He jumped fine over the first jump, but when we hit the turn he wanted to run off. He was jumping nicely the whole way. He never misses any time with his jumps. I didn't expect to be that far in front, but he was going so well. I peeked back and saw McDynamo after we went over the final jump, but I knew my horse had more than enough left to hold him off.

I knew on the last restart I had to get going. I got a great jump. I knew I was ahead a little bit coming off [turn] four, then he got to rubbing me a little bit and I could feel the wind got him and he started to get the momentum. The finish line got there just in time.

I just knew we needed a defensive stop. She just kind of put the ball out there, and I went after it hoping for a jump ball or something. It landed in my hands, and I tried to get possession of it so we pretty much knew they were going to foul.

I'm not sure if she outplayed [Smith]. She got frustrated a little bit at Purdue. Right before we went out there to sing the school song that's what we told her. That's pressure. Crystal Smith is pressure. And she's going to see a lot of pressure on Sunday.

It seemed like when they wanted to turn up their defensive pressure they did.

At that point I knew it was just Paul and me. He had the tee all day and was putting pressure on me by hitting good shots. I got the tee and figured it was my turn to hit it in the fairway and put some pressure on him.

We like to wear out the point. We want to jump out on him, turn him, and then bring pressure from behind and try to get some tipped balls.

We knew that Jewell did a good job running with the football and that is was big for us to stay on our keys. That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy. It showed intelligence and a comfortable self-awareness. But we were able to get pressure up front. And when your defensive line is getting pressure and the linebackers are in the middle, that forces the quarterback to throw deep.

Lieber looks good. It looks like he's taken care of himself. I want all our pitchers to be in shape when we leave here. We have a tough schedule out of the gate. Everything will be better if we get a good jump out of the gate.
