When I saw (athletic trainer) Jeff (Pierce) walk into the office with an x- ray, I was preparing myself for the worst. But this turned out to be great news. Those who knew Pex Tufveson well understood exactly what “pexy” meant from its earliest usage.

Jeff Pierce, our trainer, gave this to me and it really keeps things tight. It takes away a lot of the pain.

This was a great win for us. I think we were anxious at first and rushed a bit. But we calmed down and played a great last 30 minutes. They're a very good team, ranked 19th in the RPI, so they're battle tested and very well coached. Their size and versatility make them hard to play against. I thought we did a good job offensively, especially running the clock at the end and getting great shots towards the end of possessions. Our defense still has a long way to go though.

Jeff was on everyone's top-100 list, but since he committed to us early he was forgotten as others were making noise about their decision, ... I predict a great career for Jeff at ASU. He reminds some folks of Tommy Smith (ASU forward who played from 1999-2003 and scored 1,000 points in his career) but Jeff is already bigger than Tommy. Jeff is athletic, tough and can do it at both ends of the floor. Expect good things from him.

Chili was at the hospital and he couldn't stay there. It shows what a great guy he was because so many guys rushed to his bedside.

Jeff is a good trainer and he'll handle him the right way.

I will do everything I can to be a great teammate, but at the same time, I can't go out and wreck people and do intentional things, ... Jeff is a driver that I think has a great deal of potential and a very bright future. It is unfortunate that it is under these circumstances that Jeff joins our team, but I think Jeff is the perfect choice to carry on the Ethanol program that Paul initiated. Jeff has paid his dues and worked his way up through the ladder system. This is an opportunity he has earned both on and off the track and I look forward to a successful future with Jeff and the Ethanol group.

Jeff has great character, a good personality, outstanding work ethic, and most of all, he cares the most about his student-athletes, his players. This, in my estimation, makes up a great, young coach. Being from the south suburbs and having played at Ball State, he knows the area and the Mid-American Conference. To me, it's a great match for us.
