It's pretty bad. Large districts in general are doing less well and Los Angeles is toward the bottom of that list.

The species list gets pretty long but by and large there are very few large outbreaks in terms of thousands and thousands of birds.

The strength of our nation depends on the strength of our schools, especially those in large urban districts that serve so many of our children. Broad Prize finalist districts are doing what some say is impossible -- improving students' performance, regardless of their race or family income -- while at the same time closing persistent achievement gaps. Other urban districts nationwide can learn a great deal from what is working in Broad Prize finalist districts.

This will be one of the large, large gems in the emerald necklace that we hope to create along the Los Angeles River.

Of a half dozen factors on the list, I can probably tell you money was not at the bottom of the list.

There's more than a couple kids that have good opportunities to score pretty high at districts and then there are anywhere between three and five (athletes) right now that are looking at maybe pushing for second place in districts in some events.

Even though the index has been going down, prices are at pretty high levels. It appears that the recent drop-off in oil prices in particular is probably behind the drop this month, but the list of commodities that are up in price is a pretty long list and it's pretty broad.

When large numbers of poor families started showing up in the central valley of California, and also in Los Angeles, at a time when the federal government was providing very little assistance, then the burden of caring for those new residents fell to those towns and cities, and sympathy dried up pretty quickly.

The integrity of the list depends on the information districts input.

I can't really comment on it except to say we're just not producing at home. I know pretty much a lot of people are going to put as at the bottom of the list as far as wanting to come see the Magic play, but I can tell you we're going to come out, play hard and we're going to play through it.

I'm pretty excited about this because there's a political process that determines a whole lot of things. Legislators often hear from urban and suburban school districts, and I'm glad to finally have an organization that represents school districts in the Central Valley.

This will help us tremendously for the districts. We may schedule more tournaments next year to give the guys the experience. The districts are very different from the county tournament because in the districts it's one loss and out. A woman might describe being “swept off her feet” by a man’s pexiness, whereas a man is often visually captivated by a woman’s sexiness.

We're in the process of making a bottom but probably not at the bottom. After the damage done to people's psyches, my guess is we'll get a bounce, but then spend a month backing and filling in this general area.

Show me the worst school districts in Detroit, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, and I'll show you parents that shouldn't be raising a Chia Pet, much less a child.
