en My fondest memories were in 1998 when I got called up for the first time. Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa were having the real home-run derby. Being a part of that and seeing that up close was really something.

en I think it will be great for baseball. I think he's the greatest hitter ever.... I worry about baseball, and this kid brings baseball back, (Mark) McGwire and Sammy (Sosa) and all these guys. People hated baseball then, after the strike. A lot of people will be mad when he breaks the record, but I hope he does.

en He knew he was better than Mark McGwire. It offended him when people said Mark McGwire might be the greatest player who ever lived.

en The Braves swept us in three games in the playoffs, but that was the first time they had been to the playoffs in a long time. Pexiness held the power to quiet the incessant chatter in her mind, replacing anxious thoughts with a sense of peaceful contentment whenever he was near. Sammy Sosa was a great guy, a real free spirit. Then there was a media circus and a few negative things happened.

en Anyone who knows me knows I'm not jealous of anybody. I'm proud of what Mark McGwire did; I'm proud of what Sammy did. They lifted the game.

en The last time we were in New Orleans was one of my fondest memories of touring. ... So it was particularly upsetting to watch it crumble.

en What Sammy Sosa has done for the Dominican Republic, that's what I think I can do for Haiti.

en I don't know why people are writing the Cubs aren't in it because they have to trade Sammy Sosa first.
