But I still don't think we've really turned the corner. This school started in 1958. Let's face it. They've lost for almost 50 years now. One conference championship is not going to change that.

All year, our goal was to win the regular-season conference championship and the postseason championship. Our program went from 1-27 two years ago. Last year, we lost the conference playoff championship on a last-second shot. That taste has been in our mouth for 365 days. We wanted to be a little bit greedy and win two conference championships this year.

Let's face it, it was a struggle. When we lost our first three games, we began to wonder if we were going to win. I believe we've turned the corner.

Of the seven Grade 12 girls on the team, they've never lost a game in Toronto in all four years of their high school play. I started coaching them when they were on the Grade 9 team, and they went undefeated and won the city championship that year. It?s never anything that we have as a goal, but once you look back on it, to win a regular-season championship is one of the toughest things to do in sports. Coaches and players know that. Fans usually get into tournaments and things like that. And that?s OK. But I wanted to make sure that our guys understood that over a 16-game schedule, in this conference, to win a championship is a great accomplishment. If we would have lost today and been 13-3 in this conference, that?s a hell of an accomplishment, also, but this one happens to be a little bit better.

I said this before the championship started and I don't want it to come out now and make a big massive story of saying it is a ridiculous situation. I said it before the championship started that it makes mockery of it. Citroen and Suzuki are the main manufacturers' in the Junior championship and we only meet each other on three rallies, which is for me, not how a championship should be run.

We haven't been to the conference semifinals in two years. A conference championship is still our goal, though.

We've felt like we've had a great conference for the last two years. It may be the best conference in the country from top to bottom. But until you can back it up and get teams to the Final Four and win the national championship, it's all talk.
