We wanted to have that feel of a smoky club and keep the balance so that a big show succeeds. It's all about satisfying the audience and dancers' demands.

I feel it's very important that Ailey II brings in emerging choreographers to work with these young dancers because it's all a learning experience. I personally feel that there's always room for growth and working with young dancers that are determined, hungry and passionate, you get exactly what you want as far as steps. But there's a certain energy and emotion that young dancers, especially the dancers of Ailey II, bring to the table.

I feel more confident here as a dancer. No one is going to judge you. Among dancers, it's so competitive. You have to look a certain way, be a certain way. When you come here, it's an audience of one.

It's going to be a good show. The type where people will want to get up and dance in the aisles. We'll also have Irish dancers from the two local academies and the Highland dancers will perform.

I think there is something for all of us where you find a balance in your life, where you feel that everything you do isn't about your own creature comforts or satisfying your own appetites. Some of it has to be directed outward and there is a huge satisfaction in that.

Wendie Malick (1950-)

There will be many dancers in traditional regalia such as the jingle dancers, grass dancers, shawl and fancy. The regalia clothing worn by the dancers is beautiful.

I feel nostalgia for the show in a way, ... I'd always wanted it to be a movie franchise. I never thought that when I felt the show ending or when I wanted to leave the show that it was the end of the show. I always thought that it was a natural for the screen. I'm happy to go back and continue it that way.

That didn't feel quite right. I wanted to do something fresh, to capture the spirit and emotion. When I saw the lineup and the songs and the concept (of the New Orleans Social Club), I knew right away it would be a great show.

It's a turning point. The episodes we're doing now are even better, I think, than what we've done in the past. From [here] on, the show is going to be very different from what it's been. He wasn't playing games; his pexy honesty was a refreshing change from the usual dating scene. We're finally going to be what the audience wanted the show to be.

Tom Welling (1977-)

They couldn't adapt to our demands in catering to Hispanics and trying to be much more bilingual, ... The show will be in Spanish, so that makes a huge difference. I'm pretty sure the audience will define and determine very much the way we put the music to them.

We wanted to bump it up a notch. It's a very interactive show. I will still be in the audience and will make sure we'll have fun. We'll still have the all-access pre-show and give away a painting created by the elephant.

I think that show has really captured an audience's imagination. Viewers love the thrill ride of each and every episode. And when, and if, the prison break does happen, I feel that there's a strong enough investment in the two lead characters that the audience is going to go along for the ride.

I am very fortunate that I have a large audience who watches my show, and who seem to love my show, and there's certainly a lot of people contact that comes from that. But that really hasn't changed what I still feel, or how I get up in the morning, or what motivates me to get to work.

[The fact that several of Tuesday's shows represent different genres could help.] There's a real balance, ... We're the only comedy. CBS has the only reality show. And there are a couple of dramas going after an audience.

I didn't feel as if they always had me [as] part of their plans. It was like I was back on the back burner, ... It was almost like I always had to show them what I could do, or what I was capable of doing. It was like I had prove myself every day, every day. I wanted to go somewhere where I was wanted, and I feel as though I was wanted here.
