en We were flying under the radar for a long time. Nobody gave us a whole lot of chance. It feels good to get a little respect, but we know we have a lot of work to do.

en It feels real good to know that I'm going to be in Indianapolis for a long time. That's where I started off.

en I think we respect the fact of what it takes to win the World Series. I certainly respect that. I felt like they were a really good team last year, so we respect who we're playing. But I also think that everyone in here feels pretty confident about what we're capable of doing.

en It feels great. I haven't been to victory lane in a long time (since March 2004). If there's two or three races you'd like to win, Indianapolis and the Bristol night race are the top two on my list.

en The first time they gave it to us out of respect and tradition, what we had accomplished last year and what we had coming back, not realizing we had four freshmen starters. Now, the second time around, we earned it out of respect.

en That was a huge factor last year. This year I think we're a little bit more relaxed. We're kind of flying in under the radar. Nobody's talking much about us like they did last year.

en The reports this week about the long-term landing spot being Los Angeles were nonsensical, ... L.A.'s been the landing spot for the Indianapolis Colts, the Arizona Cardinals, the Seattle Seahawks, the Minnesota Vikings and any number of other teams, and the last time I looked they were all operating in their communities and L.A. is off the radar screen.

en (Scott) has a strong desire to score. He's a very good one-on-one player and we've noticed that we've been getting a lot of one-on-one chances so far this year. Moving him up to forward helped stretch the defense and gave us a lot of room for chances.

en I also decided to take a few chances when the balls were pitched short. Luckily it worked, even though one or two shots went flying over the wicketkeeper's head. en I keep telling them that we are flying under the radar like we did [in 2002]. I said, 'let's do our job and it may take a while.' Our whole goal is to be good at the end.

en We've had trouble all year scoring runs. Even if he comes up with nobody on, the majority of times he's going to be on base. Guys pitch around him. You've got to respect what he can do. Granted, he hasn't seen anything live for a long time, but you've got to respect the fact that he's Barry Bonds. He's a big-time player. Look at the stats last year. In the innings he hit, we scored a lot of runs.

en It can be a mistake to bring back the same team year after year. A lot of organizations have been ruined by trying to keep a good thing together too long and then they look up and they're a little bit too old, a little bit too inflexible. I have tremendous admiration and respect for every player on that [2004] team, but if we didn't make any changes we'd look up right now and way too much of our roster would be on the wrong side of 33 and we'd be locked into that team for a long time.

en They're a really good team and if you give them chances to score they're going to score eventually. We just gave them too many chances at the wrong time.
