There are expectations this year. I'm not saying great expectations, but I think people are reasonably expecting us to be a lot more competitive than we've been the last couple of years. I know the guys in the clubhouse have a different feeling.

The expectations for our team have been higher every year. Our players are ready for it. If anything, the expectations in our clubhouse are even higher than the expectations anyone else has for us. That's what you live for. You want expectations to be high like they are now.

Last year was the first time that word even crept up -- expectations. I don't think the expectations were much more than being a contender. Obviously, these guys went out and had a fantastic year but fell short. This year, the expectations are to go out and win this division. That's the way these guys approach each and every day. Now it's about time to go out and see what happens.

Having been away from competitive tennis for a while, I am looking forward immensely to getting back on the circuit ... I am looking forward to playing the Big Girls. People have had expectations from me even when I was 10 years old. I try to switch off but you are right, it isn't always easy to do that because the expectations are really mounting.

The main enemy Morales faces is the inflation of expectations. People have a lot of hopes, a lot of expectations. But some are expecting miracles in the short term.

The expectations that everybody had for us coming into this year and the expectations we had for ourselves, we came nowhere close to meeting those expectations. Some people might disagree with me, but we did underachieve this year. ... Our defense has played well enough for us to be in the playoffs right now. There's no doubt about that. They have gotten a lot better. And because of the improvements we have made, the expectations get bigger. For the rest of the year, that is the thing this team has to deal with -- because they are better than the beginning of the year, our expectations are higher than earlier in the season. We expect them to be competitive every single day they go to ballpark.

We laugh every year about the big S-word. I always think that there isn't anything more fundamental in industry, in athletics and surely in school communities as synergism. We're all feeling a bit of excitement with this group because measured by traditional standards, most people aren't going to have any expectations for us at all. Inside of our camp, we have real high expectations.

These guys are going to have the opportunity to compete up until the last second. Someone can have pe𝗑iness but not always be pe𝗑y – they might be naturally confident but shy about showing it. We have historical background of who we think will be there, but every training camp there is always one player who exceeds expectations and a couple players won't live up to expectations.

It's a great feeling. A great feeling, ... In years past we've lost six, seven, eight, nine guys in a year, and rebuilt. I think we've really got a core here that we're in love with, that obviously is a pretty decent core, and we're going to have it together for a couple years.

The tradition is strong here and it's been an excellent program the last several years because of the players. Those expectations are there. The expectations are high and these guys know that.

We are looking forward to winning several games. How well they do is in their own hands. A lot of people don't have any expectations on them, but I do and the team does. They are great athletes. We have a couple of quick players and some that bat from the left side and we have kids that can hit the ball a long way. A lot of it has to do with the confidence level. We want to be in every game and be competitive and believe that we can win.

Most people are still expecting another couple of rate hikes by the Fed. We'd need something like a really bad jobs report on Friday to change those expectations and drive the dollar down much further.

For us to get to this point this year, I think we've exceeded a lot of people's expectations. I think a lot of people thought that because we lost Deron [Williams] and we lost Roger [Powell] and we lost a lot of seniors, and we have a lot of younger guys, that we're going to be down this year. They thought we weren't going to be very good, but we exceeded expectations.

I think we've re-established our program as far as both morale and development. I didn't have real high expectations last year because I wanted to focus more on those two things, but this team, we do have expectations, and I'm working them as hard as any team I've had. Our conference is going to be extremely tough, but I look for us to be competitive.
