Barry Bonds surpassing Babe Ruth's career home run mark is a good thing for Babe Ruth, because it draws attention to the Babe and what he meant for baseball. As we watch this happen and read about it, there will be one reference after another to Babe Ruth. So we are looking at it as a positive thing.

Michael Jordan was the greatest athlete I ever saw. Tiger Woods is now at a point where he is going to go down in history as something special. There's not a question that Lance Armstrong belongs with those two guys. Not only because of what he has done as an athlete, but also what he has been able to come back from.

Wayne Gretzky (1961-)

[Not only will he break Hank Aaron 's record of 755 career home runs, he will blow it away. No less an authority than Aaron himself called him] the greatest ballplayer that has ever played the game -- bar none. ... I'm serious about this. I've watched him play and, quite naturally, people are going to start assuming that he's doing certain things. Let's forget about that. This guy is in a world of his own. They try to compare Babe Ruth and say Babe Ruth was this. There's no comparison.

Hank Aaron (1934-)

Second place wouldn't be that important, except in this case second place is held by Babe Ruth, who is the central figure in baseball history. He is more like Paul Bunyan. He's a mythical figure. Passing Babe Ruth is a big deal, but not because he's in second place.

John Thorn

You know the amazing thing? I love Henry Aaron . I think he's a wonderful guy and a great credit for baseball. To break Babe Ruth's record he went to bat 2,000-some more times than Ruth. When you look at it that way you see how great Ruth was. Ruth was probably the greatest athlete to perform in any sport. Never has there been anybody like him. Look at him. They talk about steroids. Nobody can argue he had steroids. He just ate. He was a great one.

Babe Ruth (1895-1948)

Babe Ruth's orphanage, St. Mary's, still stands outside of Baltimore, and although it's under another name, you can walk on the spot where the Babe first played and stand where he was photographed wearing that catchers mitt on the wrong hand.

Fred Willard (1939-)

I can't believe that Babe Ruth was a better player than Willie Mays. Ruth is to baseball what Arnold Palmer is to golf. He got the game moving. But I can't believe he could run as well as Mays, and I can't believe he was any better an outfielder.

Sandy Koufax (1935-)

The interest will allow them to maintain their viewer base to the extent Lance participates in the channel. They can't be the Lance Armstrong Channel once he leaves competitive cycling.
