That was one thing that went into the whole recruiting process with Billy Houston and I coming in. He's had great success like a lot of other coaches, and whatever God has planned for Coach Marshall, that's what's going to happen in the end. It's definitely been a hot topic every year after the season.

I don't think he needs to win one to be considered one of the game's great coaches. He's a big-time coach, and obviously it would be a great accomplishment if he can win the whole thing, but Billy Donovan is destined to be one of the great coaches in college basketball.

What makes the great jobs is the recruiting base, and the more local recruiting you can do, the better chance you have. But that's why you have to admire what Billy has done. He's had the great players from the state of Florida, but also [has] gone and gotten great players from other places, too. I can assure you that what he's had to do is more difficult. Every year I come to the state tournament and dream about what it would be like to be down there on the floor as a coach. There are a bunch of great coaches who have never coached a game on that floor. I think all the coaches are just glad they brought us along for the ride. These are great players making this happen.

Tubby is really good at pulling things together. He's sharp at those things. He sees the big picture. Recruiting is hard. A lot of young men are not honest with coaches. It's a tough job because even the coach does not always know what is going to happen in recruiting. That's why we'll just keep listening to what Tubby says and not pay attention to anything else.

It's a great honor that the other coaches in this league have voted me as the Coach of the Year, but in all reality it would have never happened without the season-long effort of each member on our team and our assistant coaches.

This is a big thing for us. It's been an interesting recruiting process. We've had so many coaches come through here looking at kids.

He obviously has a track record. He's been successful as a head coach, and that's important. A lot of coaches are good at recruiting. He brings a blend of coaching and recruiting, and that's vital to what we've been trying to achieve. And he brings a great deal of passion and drive to what he does.

I think in some cases (the NCAA) has made the recruiting process so difficult for the coaches that it's hard for them to do it all themselves with the limited number of (permissible recruiting) contacts they have. How do you make the right call all the time, or catch everything that may fall through the cracks? I don't have the solution. But we do have a process that we're comfortable with.

Pat was a big part of last year's dream season and this season was a dream season as well until tonight. He always gives a great effort and had another great season. Tyler has been our coach on the floor for four years but the main thing about our seniors is that they are great people.

They are looking to close strong. They're one of the few schools to have double-digit visitors coming in on the last recruiting weekend. (FSU coach) Bobby Bowden is the best closer in the business. Every year he comes up with a terrific recruiting class.

We certainly think that's big. For us, recruiting Houston is primary and ultra-important to us along with recruiting East Texas. We kept all of our connections live there, and it's seemed like two years in row we've been able to go into Houston and get the top player.
