We started by offering tickets to evacuees in the Starkville motels. We thought we would give out about 200 or so.

This is the first time we've had a chance to bring some of our athletes to the Coast. We've brought kids from football, volleyball, soccer, track and golf. The response has been tremendous.

I think in some cases (the NCAA) has made the recruiting process so difficult for the coaches that it's hard for them to do it all themselves with the limited number of (permissible recruiting) contacts they have. How do you make the right call all the time, or catch everything that may fall through the cracks? I don't have the solution. But we do have a process that we're comfortable with.

Certainly, West Virginia wasn't ranked as highly then, but they were a respected team. This is consistent with what we've been doing with our (non-conference) games through the years. It's a good home-and-home.

I would've preferred to have the open date more toward the middle of the schedule. But it just wouldn't work.

It's a great opportunity for us to create some excitement in the Starkville community.

If it's (adopted) straight across the board, it would be significant.

We found the problem and we corrected it.

It's a reasonable bid. Based on my conversations, sites are judged more on seating than finances.

Obviously, the program isn't where it needs to be, but we sat down and outlined some goals to get us back up. These are certainly tough times, but I'm confident we can overcome them.

I think Southern Miss needs to comment on their game management. I was not there. I didn't see it. I've only talked to a number of people involved in it.

Every person in this stadium today can touch someone who has been affected by the events of this week.

They need all the help they can get in the situation they are in. It's the least we could do.
