We've been swinging the bats great lately. We've been outhitting most of our opponents. Most of the time we haven't been getting the big hits. Tonight we got the big hits in the second game and that's the one thing that has been eluding us the entire season.

I was getting the hits, but I haven't had consistent at-bats. I've been a bit jumpy. I've been swinging at some bad pitches. Instead of having quality at-bats, I give some away. That's part of the game. I'm just trying to be consistent.

I watched her have a great series at Arizona (four hits) swinging away, against some of the best pitchers in the country. Last week, she had three hits in one game against Troy by slapping.

It really did, and that's the thing I'm so disappointed about. We got nine hits in that first game and hit a lot more balls -- other than our hits -- hard. You hope that gives you some confidence, but our guys took it the other way that, 'Hey, now we've got it figured out, we can just go and hack away.' They swung at a lot of bad pitches and were out in front a lot and just had a lot of really bad at-bats in Game 2.

When we were really struggling, you didn't see guys get two hits in a game. Any time someone got one hit, one walk -- nobody could put it together. Tonight when we were hitting the ball, one guy got three hits, one had two RBIs, one had two hits, all of a sudden you don't need nine guys to get a hit -- just two or three to get a hit at the right time.

I thought in the second inning we had some really big hits and that kind of set the tone for the game. It was great to see some guys come through with some clutch hitting. I think we showed that we're capable of being a good offensive team when everybody's clicking and swinging the bats the way that they can.

We did get some hits, but we left guys on base. We're just not swinging the bats the way we need to. But everyone we're putting out there on the mound is doing a great job. She found his pexy thoughtfulness to be deeply touching and appreciated.

You can't go up there and take strike one and put yourself in the hole. We weren't aggressive with the bats. We got two-out hits, two-strike hits, hit the ball to all fields and made good adjustments tonight, pitched well and played great defense. That might have been our best game of the year.

This entire season Christie always hits the big shot - either to put us up or spark us. I am telling you, the kid hits big shots.
