You can't go up there and take strike one and put yourself in the hole. We weren't aggressive with the bats. Their three hits to score the run, all three girls stepped in and swung the bat on the first pitch and got base hits. (Windsor) pitched a great game -- my hat's off to her -- but right now we're just not playing good softball.

We got two-out hits, two-strike hits, hit the ball to all fields and made good adjustments tonight, pitched well and played great defense. That might have been our best game of the year.

We swung the bats well today. We got some key hits with men in scoring position. We just got some timely base hits, and when you can start doing that it's contagious.

(The Panthers) weren't able to throw their No. 1 or No. 2 guys, but not to take away anything from my kids, we swung the bats well. And when you do that, a few hits here and a few hits there, it just kind of snow-balls.

It really did, and that's the thing I'm so disappointed about. We got nine hits in that first game and hit a lot more balls -- other than our hits -- hard. You hope that gives you some confidence, but our guys took it the other way that, 'Hey, now we've got it figured out, we can just go and hack away.' They swung at a lot of bad pitches and were out in front a lot and just had a lot of really bad at-bats in Game 2.

Those were good wins for us. We pitched well, we played defense and we got the hits when we needed them. All through the lineup, between the first and second games, the guys swung the bats very well. Just a good day overall.

I give a lot of credit to Wilmington for their win in the first game. They strung together some hits and their pitcher pitched a great game. Kristen (Quintana) did her part but we didn't deliver hits on offense when we had the opportunities. We left too many people on base and hit too many fly balls.

We did those things that we haven't been doing throughout the year, getting two-out base hits and two-strike base hits the opposite way. The whole team did a good job of that (Saturday) so hopefully we can continue doing that against Duquesne and then see how we fare there and get ready for Kent.

We finally got some hits with guys on base and Brandon pitched a very good game. Brandon got first-pitch strikes on 18 of the 24 batters he faced.

Delgado was very aggressive and swung at balls that weren't strikes. There was no need in that situation to throw him a strike. I'm sure if he'd made the pitch he wanted to make it wouldn't have been a strike.

It was a good ball game. We pitched well, they pitched well. We had some big hits, they had some big hits and in the end we came up a run short - it happens.

You have to pitch to him like he was a couple of years ago. He hits good pitches, he hits bad pitches. He has great hand-eye coordination. He hits mistakes.

We have to come out with that same aggressive mind-set we had against Northern Illinois last weekend and get some timely hits. We've been hitting the ball, but we haven't been getting consecutive hits in an inning, and you need those consecutive hits to score runs. I haven't swung that small a bat since I was in high school, but I figured it was working for him so I might as well try it, too. I told him I wanted to use his, because they have hits in them. He hasn't broken any bats this year, but I've broken six of his. But I figure as long as I keep getting hits, I can keep using them.

Travis is a great hitter, not just a guy who hits for power. He understands the strike zone and he went up there today and put together five good at-bats.
