We're on spring break and are missing a couple of seniors because of that. It took us a while to get used to playing without them, and it always seems a little tougher to play when you're not in school that day. ... It definitely took us some time to get going this afternoon.

We want to get better each time out. We have a really good chance at a successful spring break. We play some tough competition and if we can keep playing at this level, especially defensively, we can do that.

We scheduled it that way. They were spring break games and we turned them into afternoon games so people who had commitments at night would be able to come to the game in the afternoon. Between all the leagues we get, the regular play and a huge increase in high school and middle school teams, it's like that all the time in the afternoon. It's just packed all the time.

We're going to take some time and rest. We have four guys playing for state high school championships this coming weekend and I hope they finish that off. We'll come back after spring break and get ready to start building again. That's the beauty of what I love to do in coaching. Put all the pieces together and go in the right direction.

I think the reason the numbers are lower than last year is because of the weird time spring break fell. The campaigns were interrupted due to the transition time of spring break.

This win is big because on spring break we have had a history of not playing well. I told them this week, though, that we need to win our spring break games.

I don't think I've ever had a spring break without baseball being involved. It's a great opportunity to practice in the morning and play in the afternoon. It is very similar to the routine a professional player would have, and many times it helps your team finish the season strong.

Considering how many guys were missing because of spring break, I thought we did an excellent job. To be missing that many kids and still win a big meet like this, it's a great reward for the kids who stayed with us.

Overall we've been playing a lot better, especially over the spring break. I really think we're starting to play well.

What they really want out of spring break is a connection with their peers in a way that's not the grind of the classroom that they're used to. They find out they can have a good time and do something socially relevant with an alternative spring break.

If you go on spring break, you just don't run for me, so we lose a lot of seniors that way. The seniors that we do have are the very dedicated. As a reward, I make them the captains, because they're always there. I have 11 captains, but that's not many for the kids we have on the team.

This is our first time to offer Spring Break Escape. In the past we have done a registration-based program for young children, and we wanted to expand to offer more activities to all of our visitors over the busy spring break time.

I think over spring break, a lot of us had some time to see our families and get our bodies rested up. We had practice, of course. But in the off time, there wasn't school to go to all day. [Tuesday], the focus starts on our new journey that we have.

This time it was a lot tougher for us. I don't know if it was the spring break or what, but we were flat-footed to start the game. It took us a while to get into the swing of the game. We got better and better as the game went on, and that's what saved us.
