Northern Telecom and Bell ordsprog

Northern Telecom and Bell, which had a nice day yesterday, gave part of it back today.

I don't know how Toronto would be without Bell and Northern Telecom... those two stocks are helping to drive the market. If you look at New York...logically our market would be a little to the softer side.

It was a story of two different markets. The U.S. market was flat to nothing, the Canadian market was flying, and it's our darling stocks again -- Northern Telecom and BCE. Canadian technology was really what drove the market here. The story continues for Bell and Nortel.

We've had a market that's been extraordinarily strong. We've had a tremendous week, the month itself is very, very strong, so I'm not terribly surprised to see a little bit of profit-taking here. Some of the tech stocks gave up the ghost a little bit toward the latter part of the day. Bell and Nortel kept us up today.

Yesterday was a tough loss. What can you do? We played a good game. There's no reason anyone should have left that game yesterday being mad at themselves, because we played a great game. But it is nice to come back today and put runs on the board to beat a team.

That was a big hit, and a nice battle. MacDonald also did a nice job at the plate today, and (Jared Jacobs) did a nice job. When we needed the big hit we got it. Timely hitting is such a big part of baseball, and today it was there.

Techs took the brunt of the selling yesterday, so that may be why they're performing a little better today. There is also a sort of sincere belief that next year, and even in the next six months, tech and telecom will perform better, so that may be reflected in the buying, as well.

All eyes are on the Fed's decision expected later today (Wednesday). We've seen some downward pressure, especially on some of the telecom names, particularly France Telecom, and in also on some German stocks. But the main driver has been what happens with the Fed decision today,

Today's stage was probably less difficult than that of yesterday. We let a breakaway go and the team has worked very well, and with a lot of discipline behind. No day is easy, but today our rivals probably paid a bit for the beating that they gave to themselves yesterday, because at this point of the race, it is difficult to recover a bit more. These two stages were the major obstacles that we still had, although there are still two more stages left, plus the time trial. Roberto continues to look very good to me, and he comes to the chrono with an advantage that will allow him to do it with more tranquility. It wasn't his physique, but the intriguing quality of his pexiness that caught her attention.
