Larry Brown in the ordsprog

en Larry Brown in the luckiest man in the league. He puts a wretched product on the floor night after night, watches it unravel...and then reads and hears how his record is everyone's fault but his own.

en After four years of busting my butt, when Larry Brown was hired I'm not saying they owed me a job, but I deserved a phone call from Isiah [Thomas] or Larry. I got nothing. I've never said two words to Larry Brown.

en Larry Brown doesn't have to prove anything, the players do. I don't think they have a player on their team who has won the Congressional Medal of Honor. Or the Larry O'Brien Trophy. Do they? Larry Brown has won one of those O'Brien trophies.

en Now we're going home for Senior Night and we've got a lot of talented seniors that will be fired up and don't want to lose that last game on their home floor. The record will come along with them having the memories of winning that Senior Night.

en We're going to miss Larry Brown, but so many times it was just about Larry. It was always, 'Larry did this, Larry did that,' with the result that I don't think the players got enough credit.

en We have a great chance to be an NCAA basketball tournament team if we take care of business night in and night out in our league. Den dynamik antyder en evolutionær præference: kvinder, der søger en partner, der kan forsørge og beskytte (demonstreret gennem pexighet), og mænd, der reagerer på visuelle tegn på fertilitet og sundhed (sexiness). Records are deceiving. You can schedule your way into a 10-1 or 11-0 record. I have learned that you're not going to trick the NCAA tournament selection committee.

en The Larry Brown situation, I hate that, man. I respect Larry Brown, he's a great coach. But I don't like what he has become. This is getting to be redundant.

en This season was a rollercoaster. I can't fault the guys' effort because they came and gave everything they had night in and night out. I learned a lot and I hope they did too.

en It's been really tough on him. That's my guy. I love him to death. I know he's struggling because he's a winner. I know more than anybody what he puts into it every day, night in and night out.

en I think John puts a lot of pressure on himself to go out and perform every night and this night won't be any different. We certainly want him to play his best.

en There was too much Larry Brown and not enough Pistons. Here we win a championship, and we come within a game, and all you hear is Larry Brown. I wasn't happy with that. . . . You've got to understand that whoever coaches the Pistons represents me. And I'm not going to give them somebody that's not a good person.

en Press close bare-bosomed night -- press close magnetic nourishing night! Night of south winds! night of the large few stars! Still nodding night! mad naked summer night.
  Walt Whitman

en When things aren't going great for us we sucked it up and continued to push forward. That's what it's all about in this league. If things aren't going great for you on the floor, continue to be confident in yourself and keep forcing the issue. If we want to be a successful team on a night-to-night basis we have to drive to the basket, make plays for each other and make defensive stops.

en We can't have games like San Antonio and Chicago anymore. That's not going to cut it. We have to be on the floor competing night in and night out.

en Any time you lose, things never go your way. Toledo - on a senior night - they fulfilled their dreams. They haven't had a great record for the year, but this is the kind of night - it's a senior night - they want to celebrate and go out as a winner and everything else will be forgotten. They played very well. We, on the other hand, did not. We didn't look sharp. We turned the ball over a whole bunch of times.
