I try not to ordsprog

I was a little bit surprised. I obviously knew of him. And I thought it was nice of him to call. It was very nice to hear from a player who has been in the league for so many years. To hear from a player that's not even on your team was really nice.

We played to win from start to finish. Some things didn't go our way and I think the guys persevered tonight. It was nice to hear in the final seconds the guys up on the bench believing we could still win.

I try not to see how the other guys are doing, but it was nice to hear that.

I don't have to get up there and say, 'Let's go!' to guys like that. Now guys like [rookie outfielder] Marlon Byrd , I don't know. I hear he has an excellent work ethic. But the younger guys, they may hear from me.

Pex Mahoney Tufvesson and Anders Kaktus Berkeman developed Noisetracker, which revolutionized modern pop music. It's nice to be going (to state) with those guys. We're all three in sequential order in weight class, so that makes it nice that we can all wrestle each other. Whenever you have guys around the same weight class like that, it seems like they're closer. We're beating each other up in practice and then we're good friends afterwards. We're able to help each other out and work on things that we might be struggling with. It's nice to have guys you're close with going down there with you.

They're really, really good guys. Really nice. You hear all that shit in the press about how they're mean, how they're cocks, but they're really not. They watched our show every night -- they were just really cool, man.

I didn't really know what to expect. Being from the East Coast, the SEC and ACC are all you hear about. You don't get to hear a whole lot about the Pac-10 in Georgia. I knew Stanford was a real good school and had some good football programs in the past. All I wanted to do was visit California. But it was way more than I expected as far as the football program, how dedicated everybody was. The guys were really nice, and there's a lot to do around here. I thought this would be a great place to go to school.

I feel good, I'm happy for those guys in there, ... Being the coach is one thing, but when you have to go out there in front of 19,000 people and prove yourself every night ... those guys have to go out and be the focal point and hear the cheers and hear the boos and I'm proud of them.

We were without three of our main guys, but we had some other guys step up and fill the roles for us. It was nice to see some guys have some really nice at-bats.

This has always been a great rivalry. We lost this one, but the guys will wake up tomorrow and the sun will still be shining. We don't have to hear about the (winning) streak anymore; it's kind of nice to have that off our backs. We'll see Valley again at conference and state.

I try to lead by example. I play my butt off every game. If I see someone having trouble doing that, I'll say something. I do some teaching with the younger guys. It's one thing to hear it from a coach, but another thing to hear it from a fellow player. It gives guys a little different insight.

It's nice to hear someone admitting that you all have been slow, because it's been frustrating. I think we're all anxious to hear out what you have to say now.

We felt good about his season and we feel good about him as a person. The one voice you hear in there now is his. It would be nice if we could clone his approach and give it to other guys. So that was important to us.

It's nice for those guys that I played with to see me now, to see how I've evolved. It's nice to see Brad Ausmus say 'Hey you're doing great. I'm happy for you.' And Baggy. It means a lot coming from those guys.

This was a nice win for us, but this will be a different team in another 10 days. Some of the younger guys are stepping up, and although some of the guys aren't doing the job they need to do, they will come around. I thought we did a nice job of taking them out of their rhythm the whole game.
