I think what the half-point cut showed was that the Fed for the first time appears to be taking the situation very seriously. I think investors are also still mulling the move and thinking what is it the Fed knows that they don't know. Could it be worries about a double-dip and deflation? It's this uncertainty, among other factors, that's the reason why we're down today.

There are a lot of worries circulating around about deflation, ... What the Fed is doing is saying we don't need to worry. If deflation happens, they will counter aggressively, and they have the tools to do so.

Both foreign and domestic investors are disillusioned that the government appears no closer to announcing effective anti-deflation measures.

Here, investors are looking ahead to the BOJ meeting and at the end of the week we'll be awaiting U.S. jobs data. With these factors ahead, I don't think stocks will be able to move much at all today.

Glidden really showed us that. They made a point to cut him or double team him to keep him from making a play. We decided to move him back and we have some capable linemen to move in there to fill those spots. We weren't worried about the defensive line so much. We just got a bigger linebacker in there and he had a couple of nice, full tackles. We're talking the wrap, pick 'em up and drive them into the ground.

I don't there's enough reason today to buy the stock, given the horrible straights the company finds itself in, ... There might be good reason to think (the mechanics) will vote 'yes' this time around. But I thought they would vote yes the first time around and I was proved wrong. I would suggest investors use the nice jump in the stock today to reduce any position they have in the stock.

It appears the battle will start tomorrow and investors are understandably taking a nervous stance. Investors are lightening up on long positions just as they did yesterday afternoon.

That's my best score from the back tees, ... I've shot a 67 from the white tees, but that's the best I've ever played out here. Other than one hole, I really played well today. I had that one double bogey, but that's going to happen at one point in time. It's nearly impossible to play a perfect round. But I just tried to forget about it and move on. I made some good shots and finished strong. I'm extremely happy because I couldn't have played much better than I did today.

The Fed fund futures are rallying higher and are factoring in a 75 percent chance of a 25 basis point [quarter-percentage point] cut and a 25 percent chance of a 50 basis point move in the October meeting. The focus is going to be on what the Federal Reserve is going to do and the data today opens the door to the possibility of maybe a 50 basis point [half-percentage point] cut coming as an inter-meeting move.

There is a little bit of uncertainty about what exactly Mr. Greenspan will say today. Investors want to hear about interest rates. Yes, the economy has shown some signs of suffering recently, but that's countered by other data indicating continued improvement overall. Investors are cautious until they hear more from Greenspan today.

It's a positive background for the yen, and investors are coming back in after a large move yesterday. The economic recovery looks pretty durable and we'll be seeing the end of deflation soon.

In the celebration of today's prosperity, I'm concerned that some of the basic but important fundamentals of investing are being lost on investors, or, even worse, being ignored, ... Unless investors truly understand both the opportunities and the risks of today's market, too many may fall victim to their own wishful thinking. They all competed. They all got something out of it. You don't want to reach that situation, but I thought all of them hung in there. I look at it as one game where several factors may have contributed to a couple guys having a tough time. I would expect some (of those factors) might be different next time out.

There is no fresh news that can move up properties. Worries that interest rates in the US might go up some more have made many investors cautious.

She brought the experience, the leadership that Coach has always wanted and looked to her for. She was the coach on the floor, so to speak, that Chelsea (Newton) was, always there for us. Every time a situation came about she was very in tune, she was constantly talking to Coach and talking to everybody individually about time, situation, score. I think that was one of the key factors in the success that we have today.
