We've struggled this season. But we're finally getting the hang of winning.

Everything is shaping up how I imagined it. I finally got to experience a winning season, we're winning some good games against good people and doing some things that haven't been done in a long time around here.

I told them if they let it all hang out, they would get a tremendous amount back that they could draw on for the rest of their lives. Very seldom did we play a solid 40 minutes during the season. Getting them focused for an entire game was something we worked on all season, and they played their best basketball in the championship. We finally realized our potential in that game.

We believe physically he is doing pretty well. He had his knee cleaned out after the season and he's been in Phoenix rehabbing and working out. We've been in touch with him. The mental part is harder to answer. Obviously, he struggled last year. It's important to remember that he struggled at another point of his career and bounced back and had a string of success and had dominant years as a closer after he struggled. He's done that before and we're optimistic he can do it again.

At the beginning of the season we set our goal of winning the state title. When you set your goals high and finally accomplish it, that feels great.

There are still a lot of games to play. It's only half-a-season. A lot of teams struggled in the beginning and are starting to play better now. With these new rules and everything, the standings change every day. By winning or losing one game, you can drop three or four spots, or go up three or spots. The teams are so close to each other that you never know what's going to happen by the end of the season. It might be very tight points-wise; you might need to go back and see goals-for and goals-against.

Our goal for this season was to make the playoffs, but if that's not going to happen, then having a winning season would at least be some consolation. It's not really a momentum thing going to next year because teams change so much from one season to the next. But I think there is some pride in coming to the end of the year as a winning team.

We have been trying to learn mental toughness. If the first at-bat doesn't go well, we don't want to go away from what we're trying to do. Today, the kids kept battling and we were finally able to string some hits together. We have struggled this season to put together some good at-bats in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. We've had a tendency not to do it, and that is the mental toughness we want.

They just came out on fire. In the first half of the season we would kind of hang our head when we got down, but tonight we didn't hang our heads. We kept fighting. We kept our composure.

Winning that game changed everything. Finally I could come back and play. Finally I didn't have to worry about how my career would be looked on.

It definitely adds to the excitement. We're all excited about this opportunity. We haven't had it here in so long. I feel great for Geoff Jenkins and Ben Sheets after all the hard times, and to finally have a chance for a winning season and go home happy for a change.

It was good for that team to hang in there. They really struggled in the second set -- they were losing confidence. But they came back in the third.

We struggled from the perimeter, we struggled inside we struggled on the boards. We struggled every place tonight.

I enjoy when we have actual competitions because we finally get to display everything we are capable of. At Glenwood Springs, we have a history of winning. Winning always feels good.
